Dunno if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but the poppy shirt auction raised nearly £5k and the club have topped it up to a round £5,000. It's all for charity and is a good gesture by Pools and all involved in organising it as I'm sure a lot of hard work went into it for no direct reward.

Just out of interest, does any other club do anything similar cos I've not heard of owt. Maybe The Mail should publicise Pools efforts on this a bit more?

The mail have put about 3 articles in about the shirts and the amount raised etc.

I would imagine there is a final total article in the pipeline over the next few days.

I know that Arsenal put the poppy emblem on the shirt, but did they do anything with the shirts afterwards to raise money for the British Legion like Pools did?

I don't think that they did.

I'd like to see the media give Pools some positive publicity over this.

Blackburn also had special poppy shirts made and raffled just like Pools, a great effort from the clubs that bothered and it's a shame the big boys Manure, Chelski & Scousergets didn't bother as they would of made a hell of a lot of extra cash.
