He is useless, there is nothing about him whatsoever that gives any cause for optimism

I feel sorry for him, he does try but gets muscled off the ball far too easy.

Kevin Kyle seemed like he was just going through the motions tonight, waste of a fooking shirt.

Foley, as much as i'd like to see him score a league goal i just think that he is totally inept as a pro footballer, time to let him go i think.

Foley hid behind their defender several times in order not to be able to receive the ball - I'm sorry to say this seemed quite deliberate on his part - and he should resign as a player of this football club. He knows what he did - and if the manager can''t see that then the manager should resign as well.
I felt sorry for Sweeney tonight having to try and deal with such cowardice, and having absolutely no options to play forward.

the same comment re him hiding was made by several in close proximity to me in the town end last night parmo. couple that with the constant running inside when porters waiting to pass the ball to the wing where i am meant to be and the 'i want be like istead' syndrome then we have a problem that needs to be freed in january to save four months of his wages or loaned out in january so he can get a game somewhere and resurrect his career as surely his contract won't be renewed.

again.

Not so long ago I was criticising Foley and Robson, Robson is starting to move on, the penny, after a laboured priod has finally dropped it would appear, but Foley...? Apart from his sheer inabilty to compete physically, players of such stature can succeed, but need a nasty streak to their play which he totally lacks, he has that ability to produce nice, neat, technical play on the training pitch or reserve games that impress managers like Wilson, but it never quite works out on the pitch does it? Sadly, it appears Danny likes him. So we'll just have to put up with it.

many people on here understand the mechanics of fottball very well - those in the game think we know nowt - it's fair to say they know a hell of a lot more than we do, especially about strengths and weaknesses of opposition sides, but we aren't so blind as can not see when we are being short changed.
There is a growing clamour to stop picking the lad, and it's getting to a point where three lads don't even want to set foot inside the ground if they know Foley is playing. Stop putting us and him throught it Wilson - now.
MacKay has done something Foley will never do - score at this level. He may not be anywhere near a League One standard striker yet, but he has shown flashes of it (i.e. goals at Yeovil and Oldham, the goal as sub with his first touch v Cheltenham, the way he nicked the ball off Elphick last week). Foley has shown nothing - zilch, niet, nill, null, zero. It's a no-brainer and MacKay must now get his chance to play the full match on Saturday - not take him off after an hour if he hasn't scored.

but Robson has scored quite a number of goals over the four years he's played at the club, and produced a number of great crosses into the box which have led to goals (although he has also produced headless chicken performances) but what has Foley produced in comparison? After the equivalent of 27 full games I have come to the conclusion he shouldn't be out there. Robson certainly has something about him, because he can beat a man with pace and a piece of skill, and he'll get a shot on target to at least force the keeper into a save. I think Robson is worth keeping definitely in the squad, but Foley can't beat a man. He turns back inside when faced with an opponent - every single time. He looks to get rid of it - he had the chance to run into the box in the second half from the right wing, nobody within 20 yards of him, but he just hit the ball first time along the floor to their left back. Truly truly awful and the sign of a player who simply doesn't WANT to even be out there.
Please don't mention goals against Scunthorpe in the League Cup.

I'm willing to accept Robson is now a good squad member, but at the time of said conversation he wasn't. He's a very lucky lad to have been kept on, but this season has proven he was worth a deal - much to my -pleasant surprise.
He always showed the glimpses though - that's the difference. Foley has shown nothing to me, so I can only base my opinions on what I've seen = nothing at all.

Foley was desperately poor last night, as highlighted by that incident you described when he had time on the right wing. I'd ship him out on loan if possible, try to find him somewhere he can get a couple of goals and a touch of confidence so he can find the footballing ability he shows routinely at reserve level. If that doesn't happen I see no possibility of him not being released at the end of his contract and on what he has delivered for the first team he wouldn't be missed.

How about Foley to Fleetwood with clearance to play in the FA Cup?, some of the crosses Matty was sending across last night were spot on.

We're never going to see the best of Foley (however limited that probably is) while people are waiting for him to fail and on his back after every little mistake he makes. The lad has no confidence playing at the Vic because people have a pop at him after everything he does wrong, he made a mistake after about a minute of coming on last night and people were on his back; it was obvious to me from that point that he wasn't going to have a good game. Brownie, Kyle, Monky and Nelson are all senior players who have been seriously below par the last few games and a word hasn't been muttered towards them, Foley makes a mistake after a few seconds and he is lambasted. As much as I get frustrated by his performances I know that knocking every move of a lad who is so clearly lacking on confidence is only going to be detrimental.

Foley just sint good enough. Making him feel wanted might help but he is likely to still be the worst player on the pitch. Fans are angry and frustrated that he is the best pools are offering.

He is the best Wilson is offering. Having seen Rowell preseason on the right wing, it staggers me that Wilson thinks Foley is a better option.

Wilson out. I've been thinking about this again today and I've decided it's best for Pools.

Foley and Robson did get stick, but they got it becasue they weren't producing the goods. Fans don't just suddenly decide they'll slag players off for a laugh, the evidence of their own eyes soon tells them players aren't good enough. It's all a matter of patience with fans and how anyone could argue they both haven't had more than enough time is beyond me. To say players get lambasted by the fans, is only the outcome of past performances, you can only be so patient for so long. If I had my way, they'd have been gone before now, as a manager I wouldn't have been that patient. Robson is very lucky, because after a gestation period that puts a wooly mammoth to shame, he appears to have pulled himself together on what appears to be a more consistent basis...I can't say the same for Foley, who appears to have been made from the same mould as Istead, also hailed as the future not that long ago, in fact look at some of the old season videos and DVD's and spot the much trumpeted future prospects .. all gone.
