I know a couple of people on here used to go in the shop back in your childhood

but sad news is Steve Garforth the owner of the old shop passed away yesterday, great man with many a tale to tell of days gone by- if any one has picture of the old shop would you please up load them? thanks

Yeah it's the dad that has died, his son lives in spain now

no he was not a bobby, everyone says that, he had many friends who were police men but i think that was because they would go rund the back of the shop for a quick warmer (whisky)

the amount of tales he told me i could write a book about 'old hartlepool' and some of the characters who grace many social clubs in the town

his business supplied every social club in hartlepool and east durham with bottled drinks i.e spirts before the bewery's clocked on and started under cutting him, but i think he made a mint up until that time

he always said his best friends were his dogs, he had pictures of everyone he ever owed

for gravedisorder

walkies
