I can't believe that he is playing, defensive straight away. He hardly ever gets runs in the test team and I'd always fancy Monty to take more wickets than him, the Aussies must be delighted.......

Giles was the best option a few years ago but he isn't now, I really hope I am wrong but I think the wrong spinner has been selected......

Its a toughie, I'd have preferred Monty as he's an exciting player and I'd love him to leave that tart Ponting for dead but Giles is solid and gives you a bit of stability.

They're batting first, come on Harmy, Hoggy and FF

Giles only averages about 20 in test cricket with the bat and only 15a gainst the Aussies, I hope the decision comes off but I personally think the decision to omit Monty after the summer he had not only undermines him but also the batsman who are basically been told that they are not a strong enough line up to be trusted to get the runs.....

I agree to some extent, its not a case of his average, its a case of his ability to stick around (think Edgbaston last year). There shouldn't be a heavy reliance on a spinner given the pitch and Giles has done well since being over there. Its a young team, I can see their reasons for including him but would have also seen their reasons for going with Monty. Like you say, lets hope you're wrong.

The national anthems are on, hairs are standing up- that'll be you'll be watching in 5 weeks!

Harmys first ball was looser than a fat bird down Church Street at 3am!

Well that was depressing, you can't afford to bowl so poorly on a pitch like that against batsmen like that. We need a big day tomorrow or the first test is as good as gone, its not looking good though.

We absolutely failed to get at Ponting. If we cream him we win the game, simple as. Bowled him dolly after dolly. I'd have got a ton off that bowling.
