I remember that game for Andy Kings post match comments, he said it was ridiculous how close our ground was to the Sea and sited this as the reason they lost. He actually must have thought it was always that windy due to the grounds location! I was in the boxes on a fine April afternoon the next season handily placed right behind him and it's fair to say I reminded him of his words as we went 3-0 up "You can't even use the fooking wind as an excuse this season King" To be fair he chuckled.

we get wound up by ignorant comments of opposition managers and fans, but really it's our secret weapon isn't it? They must give the Pools squad more motivation over the course of a season than is given to any other club at our level. Even the so-called smaller clubs like Colchester (Steve Wignall anybody)? are guilty of this verbal diarrhoea against us.

I remember that game well, Porter won a penalty.

Was that also the game where Gavin Strachan played a sublime ball through for Jack Wilkinson to score a lovely chip, making us all believe he was the best thing ever.

I remember that day as well, as I missed most of the match. I was working until 4, and by the time I got to the ground from Thornaby, I was just in time to get settled in my seat, as Jack Wilkinson scored his goal. I wouldn't have remembered it was Joels debut mind! I can't think off a better player we have signed since then!!

Porter is quality, and anyone who says otherwise is just being contrary or looking for faults.

He was offered contracts by Wigan, Bolton, and the Mackems along with a team in La Liga according to one of Mr Gaunts fine videos but each time the deals were scuppered by Visa/Work Permit problems. Quite a coup that we ever got him really.

if it wasn't for his injuries, there's no way he'd still be at Pools or even as low as League One in my opinion.
