Have been having a field day again, trouble is all the jokes are the same, Mr Trees the Ronnie Corbett of the board just spouts rubbish and Mr Chip is definitely the Tommy Cooper your post Mr Chip are beauts, so predictable covering all angles as usual, the only thing you missed out was that you didn't referance the Northampton game  But then again I'm a completecunt so probably best not to take any notice of me.

Oh and before Mr I gets on his soapbox, Humphs was at fault for the first goal, a free kick to us on our left midway in the half, everyone up, Porter makes a run accross the box, Humphs tries to knock it short into his feet, they clear easily and within 10 seconds it's in our net. 1st mistake and punished, yet Brown missed the easiest header from 5 yards you will ever see, and Monkhouse, Porter and Mackay all missed from chances they should have done better with, but unfortunately Ritchie will take the stick, oh aye he was partly to blame for the 2nd one too, although it was an iffy throw to him from ALB, then he played a short ball again to Porter but Porter made no attempt to try and get it, 10 seconds later it's in our net banghead

Humphries is garbage and has been at fault for as many goals this season as ALB.

But he is a great professional so lets make do!

shouldn't this be aimed at the loon who picks the team.

MaKay up front , bad choice

Robson => left back , not fair on a good attacking 'impact' sub

Foley => no comment

what is the point of having two kids on the bench, if you are going to leave them there

Find a keeper, two fullbacks, stick Ben in his best position, Sweeney right mid, Brown up front
and if necessary use Humps in midfield, with Jones

Howay Mr Chip, you're cracking me up, it's the way you tell em!

where have I had a pop at Brown and blamed Porter sctatchinghead you normally spit your dummy out at such false accusations, I was simply pointing out that Humphs was at fault for the first goal and possibly the 2nd, fact.
and that Browny missed an absolute sitter from 5 yards fact
and that Porter Monkhouse and Mackay all should have done better from good/easy chances fact

For your benefit Porter played decent, it was like one of his home performances, Monkhouse had probably his best game this season, Browny did nothing first half (apart from that miss) but that was because he was too wide and deep, but played a lot better 2nd half when pushed up front. and while I'm at it I might aswel tell you that ALB did OK, couldn't blame him for first 2 goals, but question mark over the 3rd as to whether he should have collected the cross.
Sweeney never really got into the game, Collins and Nelson were steady away couldn't fault them for the goals, Clarky played well and Jones was OK, Mackay was working hard closing everything down 1st half, Foley came on 2nd half played out wide right but did nothing, Robson had a decent half getting forward and knocked some great balls in, but the was stood ball watching for their 3rd goal, but maybe he thought ALB was going to collect it.

Don't think I've slagged anyone off, just told it as it was

basically going forward we are capable of scoring (freely) against most League 1 teams, defending we are crap.
That's not a cheap shot at the back four, defending starts much higher up the pitch

I haven't got a clue what you are trying to say Mr Leicester, but Danny Boy was not happy with Porter and Browny not getting back onside quickly enough, because everytime our defence cleared in the 2nd half either Porter or Brown were still coming back from an offside position and in effect surrendered posession.
Another fact Mr Chip, and don't forget I've already said they both played well, Porter more so than Browny.

If I was Danny Wilson I wouldnt be over bothered about Brown or Porter being slow to come back from offside positions, I would be thinking, perhaps it's time I dropped one or both of the centre backs

im sure the goals will be on itv in the next half an hour and it will be interesting to see what our defending was like.

our defence has been poor this season. i dont think anyone would dispute that.

at the same time we can only miss chances if our attacking players are creating them. if we have missed 4 good chances and scored 3, then i reiterate that our problems are not at that end of the field.

id like to see kyle back for another 2 months, but if wilson only has 3k a week to spend on loan wages id rather see him spending it on shoring up the defence.

You should have said Mr Chip, I'd have give you a lift, I didn't leave till half 8.
These chances weren't half chances they were sitters, and it doesn't help the defence when we don't put them away when on top.
Then poor Ritchie makes a bad decision from a free kick to us (his 1st mistake) sells all our defence short and we are 1 down, that's the point I was making.

I haven't seen them on tele yet but it's sounds obvious they haven't shown the full passage of play, the first 2 we had good posession and we sold the defence short. The 3rd should have been caught by ALB or Robson should have been on his toes, once the scramble starts anything can happen and did, didn't Nelson get a good block on one of the chances?

Of course it's the defence FFS

Nelson is League Two standard and can NOT play the ball out of defence without hoofing it. Collins is clever but far too slow. Humphreys is constantly out of position and doesn't tackle. Sweeney is great going forward but when attacked by a decent left-winger looks like a scared rabbit.

The defence is clearly the problem. We have scored 37 goals in 20 games so far, so you don't need to be Stephen Hawking to work out where we are going wrong.

Am I missing something Mr Chip, w aren't a top flight team.

Am amazed we had 7 defenders back for the 1st goal, but if you've seen it on tele and counted em well that's what we've got, but I think it all happened quicker than 20 seconds from us taking the free kick to them breaking then knocking a 50 yard cross field pass that I think Sweeney could have done better with, before it landed in the net and I don't believe Nelson or Collins were able to get back into defensive positions in time?
The 3rd goal, I said Robson was caught ball watching but he might have though ALB was gonna catch it?
Am not even trying to defend anyone, all i said was we should have been 4 up, 1 mistake and we are 1 down.
And believe me if we would only take 1 or 2 of our many easy chances we create then the defending would become easier.
Exactly the same easy chances where created and missed at Orient last week.

For Kyle's wages we could get a young, steady left and right-back and even possibly Boydy back on-loan.

There's a thought!

Now I guess Mr 3Quid, that was probably my point of my first post on this thread, we absolutely ran them ragged making chance after chance, 4 easy ones, and quite a few other openings, Ritchie was involved in most of that build up play, but he did waste a free kick which caught the whole team on the back foot and we find ourselves 1 down, which I knew would bring out the Ritchie knockers, so whats the difference, a poor choice of free kick that leaves us exposed or missing an absolute sitter?

It's no secret that I've never rated Humphreys as a left back and now most people finally seem to agree. The fact is that he just ain't quick enough. He got away with it against 4th division cloggers but in this league you come up against better players than ever. The Premier league is full of foreigners so the English players have dropped down a league generally. The standard in the 3rd division are similar to the 2nd division of years gone by. You just can't get away with slotting people in unsuitable positions nowadays at this level.

I believe that our problem in defence is that the two central defenders don't entirely trust the full backs because they just ain't defenders, that reduces the effectiveness of Collins and Nelson because they've always got half an eye on whats happening outside of them.

Had we had two decent full backs from day one this season we would be sitting in the automatic promotion spots.

Nelson/Westwood - effective pairing
Nelson / Clark - ditto
Nelson / Collins (under Scott) - shite
Nelson / Collins (under Wilson) - shite

In order of urgency we need:

Goalie
Right back

I would like to bring up one point we can put to bed, that certain posters keep banging on about....the missed chances!. Missed chances are just that and you get nothing for them, there's no allowance in the league table for them the last time I looked. I hate it when people say we should have been 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, up, we weren't, it's a bit like saying we should have won the lottery, we were one out with all the numbers.

the simple fact is, that if you score three goals, especially away from home
then you should be winning games, not scraping draws.

Mr I, the point I was trying to make yesterday, obviously not very well was that from what I saw, Humphs did not get skinned once, defended well, was involved in ALL our attacking play down our left, but made 1 mistake from a free kick, that cost us, yet others were making mistakes (missing gilt edged chances) that if they hadn't made them, no-0ne including me would have even thought to mention his poor choice of free kick. He could also be singled out for the 2nd goal, but not from a defensive point of view on his part, he received an iffy throw from ALB that put him under pressure, tried to play it to Porters feet on the half way line with his right foot, it was short and misplaced but Porter did nothing in an effort to fight for it, result from moving forward we were caught out of position, result goal.
I don't think the defence did much wrong, but there forwards punished us from the only 2 chances they had which were far more difficult than our 4 easy ones and other good opportunities.

The problem is, you can play an abolute blinder, the game of your life, but if you make a mistake that results in a goal or something similar like missing a penalty or getting sent off, everything else becomes void and you simply get remembered for that.

No one ever turns round and says ey, that Waddle had a great semi-final against Germany in the 90 world cup didnt he?
