This is the tale of the one that got away. After a bright opening twenty minutes when incisive movement turning and running from Porter, Brown and Monkhouse carved open Orient down the flanks presenting 2 headed chances to Porter who was just reaching a little so much to keep them down and a Kyle opportunity at the back stick which he did not get on the end of a teasing Brown cross we lost our way.

The problem was neither Clark or Jones could give any real quality passes, Porter and Browny swopped sides to no effect in the second half and ultimately we lacked the carefully crafted composure displayed at Carlisle where we kept the ball better.

I said it had to be Boyd coming of the bench for the winner at half time - damn I was right with a deflected good shot.

Anyway Danny got the substitutions right but there is one disadvantage witha big man int eh team that the easy option is to lump it - remember Everton under Big Duncan Ferguson thiswas the same - what we should have done was play it wide liked we did int eh first 20 minutes when Brown was electric with his trun and movement past the left back, Porter clever with his link play and Monky delivered two adriodt crosses.

On reflection Orient deserved it hit the post & bar in first half and numerous second half chances blazed over against very little created by Pools in the second period save a Kyle curled effort wide of the near post.

ALB 6 Little to do but what he did do he was fine. Not at fault for goal
Sweeney 6 soldi if unspectacular
Richie 5 I am a big fan but distribution not too clever today - but he was thinking about putting the ball in the right places
Nelse 6 Solid
Collins 7 My MoM
Brown 5.5 fantastic first half must have been cold and wet second half as missing in action
Jones 4 tried hard but nothing worked for him
Clark 4 as above
Monky 5.5 see Brown comment
Porter 6 see Brown comment
Kyle 5 not the player I saw at Carlisle but tried hard

Subs no impact

The real issue we simply did not pass the ball well enough and at times should have had more ambition and greater desire to go wide rather than into Kyle who is best served by delivery from the flanks and the by line not straight passes with his back to goal.

Don't understand the 'got the subs right' comment, alongside the 'subs no impact' one. sctatchinghead

Very much like the Northampton game except that we started very well and looked like getting a good result. Orient started badly reflecting their position and lack of confidence. After a while they improved and played some nice football on the ground - their finishing was woeful otherwise they would have scored more. Kyle was little better than the Northampton game - I thought I'd see a different player after his recent run but it wasn't to be. Brown and Porter were good early on but when Orient stopped the ball getting to them we didn't look too good and had to defend for long periods of time.

Sooooo similar to Northampton but in a way better.

To me (and I dont get to many games) but we looked more fluid

Pisser result but I took some positives
