It's a great time for him to come on after two wins and that.

The two wins have took sting out of the situation, he would of been lynched a fortnight ago.

We are in a sort of suspended animation at the moment, still not happy , but it seems rude to have a go after recent results ( not performances).

Now turned it off.

Tees rang me and asked if i would put a question to butterworth - yet they apparently cut me off and so butterworth couldn't/wouldn't answer the question in full - what was the point then? :uhoh:

I heard him get asked three questions which I thought he answered very honestly. Especially one about Kyle which was two days out of date. Butterworth basically said it's because we think he's better than Richie Barker at this level (which of course he is) he also said Mr Barker was having a few traveling issues , in the style of Ian Moore. The other question was about the defence, he said what you'd have expected him to (he seemed to agree that certain people have been poor for while) but blamed Sweeney for the goal that was mentioned-Ricketts at Walsall on Saturday. That was who was told to mark the centre forward at corners. He said Nelson and Collins were told to mark the centre backs who they thought were the two biggest threats from set pieces. He also was asked about James Brown and what his best position is were you see him playing in the long term, again he answered the question well and honestly.

Regular fans forums (or even one) would go a long to make us feel better about the current management set up, as they aren't idiots like some make out they are just detached from the fans. They are both decent blokes with a vast knowledge of the game, he even tried to explain Wilson's supposed lack of passion. They need to start trying to relate to the people who watch them, if they'd been as good in this respect as Turner and Cooper they wouldn't get half the stick they do.

That's how I feel after listening to our assistant manager sat next to a fat Smoggy choad for an hour, why wasn't it the manager though? Come on Danny come and meet your people.

So did Wilson back out of doing this interview? If results were poor then id understand but odd when were winning, unless he is somewhere trying to tie a deal up for a keeper?

I know im hoping for a lot

Could be all sorts of reasons from wanting to get home at a reasonable time (doesn't he live in Barnsley?)to going to another game to watch a player.

I think he lives in Chesterfield. We had a game on Tuesday so that would be one night at the Marina this week already and we're at home on Saturday. It's another reason why he's detached from the fans and the two managers I mentioned weren't and were popular for that reason. It's rare you'll bump into Danny Wilson in town, when you do he's a sound bloke who's willing to talk to people about Pools. I know people who've worked over on the marina and my dad's spoke to him in the bars over there and he's a nice bloke. It embarrasses me when I see people on here branding him a "'lovely lovely person'" that's going too far.

Not moving here suggests he classed the job as a stepping stone for him back to the top, which is fair enough I'm sure he's ambitious but it's a double edged sword. To do really well at Pools I think you have to totally embrace the club and the town. When you do they aren't many harder places to come, when we are all 100% behind everything that Pools do on the field and the ground is full. It's nothing like that at the moment even though we have a pretty good side, and that's why in my opinion.

That's why as well I don't think he's the man to take us further.

Really good post. I fully agree that the lack of opportunity to put questions to the manager has been a major cause of fans frustration. What I don't know is whether Danny has opted to take this stance or whether it has been imposed on him by KH. We know Pools hierarchy are very bad at communicating with the fans and keeping us informed. Perhaps after experiences with Cooper and Newell they have told Wilson he must not speak to the fans for whatever reason they see fit.
Alternatively of course it could be that Danny does not want to have a rapport with the fans - but that seems a bit odd because it was not the same at previous clubs he has managed. Indeed it seems he was a popular character with fans at MK Dons.
Whatever the reason, a bit more openness from the club and the opportunity for the manager to meet some of the fans may just help to build a few of the bridges which have been burned ovber the last couple of years.

Of course they did, they could only let carefully vetted questions anywhere near him!

The place he lives in Chesterfield is a very exclusive area and that could be the reason for him staying put, it is the sort of area where houses are sold in days by word of mouth rather than putting them in the estate agents window
