Kevin Kyle - what is not mentioned in the criticism above is that he caused havoc in the centre of the Walsall defence. They couldn't contain him. Yes, he might have scored in the first half, but big deal - he kept at it and continued to cause problems.

Football is a game of opinions. Does anybody else share this view?

He's an obvious easy target for criticism. Brown and Porter are probably the strongest area in our team, they are both players capable of performing above the level we are currently playing so people were confused when Wilson brought someone in on good wages to play up front instead of a right or left back or a Boland type central midfield player. I honestly believe in time the guy can be a real asset and he deserves a chance. He's a handful and from what I watched against Swindon he has a good touch.

It seems he's been poor in the two away games and people have questioned his attitude. From seeing the goals he seemed to keenly celebrate them, but I haven't seen the last two games so I can't comment. He has some ability that's for sure he's been capped 9 times by Scotland and has scored goals in the Championship, I'm not entirely comfortable with a situation were we have a player being roundly chastised after three games in a Pools shirt. We are meant be 'supporters' after all.

I trust peoples opinion it's been so unanimous that's he been garbage you can't really defend him, but he has barely played for a long time and I don't think you can judge him on three games. He's been thrown in between our two best players and we hear he's on astronomical wages as you said he's in a no win situation. He might just need a goal, no matter what he earns he's human and his confidence possibly isn't at it's highest at the moment.

I honestly thought he had a good debut.

I have only saw Kyle on his debut against Swindon so far and like PJ and Obafemi I thought he had a decent game. His headers and flicks found a Pools player consistently and he played the role of target man very well.

Lets give him a chance and see how he performs in the next two home games...

He was terrible against Walsall but picked up when we played the ball on the floor and did make a contribution holding the ball up late on.
Put simply he isn't fit enough and when a team's struggling for results surely isn't the time to try and give unfit players games. I'm sure he still has ability and could come good eventually but we've only got him on loan and apparently he's a on huge wage we'd never afford so whats in it for us?

Against Swindon I thought he looked useful, but not good enough to break up the Brown/Porter partnership.

Against Northampton he was truly woeful.

Against Walsall he was marginally better than against Northampton, and when we equalised suddenly seemed interested.

Still unfit, he shouldn't have been left on for 90 minutes in the last 2 games.

Quotes from Wilson...

"We can't be off our game and we can't carry people because we're not good enough,"
Surely that's exactly what we're doing with Kyle?
"We have to make sure all of us are 100% committed."
Kyle certainly didn't look it at times on Saturday.

From 100 yards away his first goal looked a bit dodgy, thought he hadn't managed to get an easy chance on target, but it looped in. But the second, viewed from about 10 yards, was the header of a striker who knows how to finish. He certainly won virtually everything put in his direction, and looked useful on the ball too, more so in the first half, he was certainly tiring towards the end.

Apart from last season of course.

Kevin Kyle's family were sat in the row in front of me last night. When he scored his second his Dad (presumably) stood up and in a broad Scottish accent shouted at the Huddersfield fans 'Nae bad for a fat bastard eh?'
