Was there a reason they were so harsh on the Darwins? He must have had one sh*te lawyer to get screwed the way he has.

It's all about intent, I'd imagine.

The Darwins intended to defraud, the other guy didn't intend to kill him, which is why it's manslaughter - and a lesser charge. 27 months is still too short, mind.

I keep saying this, Darwin was made an example of. His crime was sod all in comparison to twats like this or drug dealers getting a slap on the wrist. Disgusted again!

it's almost always worse if it's the first time a particular type of trial is conducted as well - because in this case there was so much media attention attatched to it. I think this prejudiced the outcome. I also believe there must have been some kind of directive from the Home Office regarding the sentence.
