We all pay our licence fee and taxes and the good old Beeb said something like 16 minutes and 30 odd seconds, which makes the goal clearly the 17th minute.

I had a bet on the other night on a goal to be scored before the 21st minute of the real madrid v espanyol game, anyways they get a penalty on the 20 minute and 30 seconds...shouldnt the clock then be stopped? as it was the penalty was scored on 21 minutes and 30 seconds meaning i 'lost' my bet.

Hmm you may be right but its a bit confusing when its the last seconds!!

They say a goal before the 21st minute and your bets up ie 11-21 minutes.

I may concede your right on this occasion though.

Not confusing at all. You backed them to score before the 21st minute so once the time hits 20.00 then your bet is up.

But what you have to remember is when a goal is scored they say....'IN the 56th Minute Foley scored'....so doesn't that mean even if Foley scored in 56mins and 54secs it's still in the 56th minute????

56minutes and 54 seconds is the 57th minute.

If your struggling just remember, if you score 20 seconds in, its the 1st minute. You dont score in the 0th minute. rolfl
