The Bunker has always existed without too many rules; however one law we have had since the very start is that direct abuse is not tolerated. Recently we have seen this unwelcome trait starting to appear. The moderators have therefore consulted and come up with a set of guidelines which we hope everyone will understand and adhere to. They are not meant to be heavy handed or overbearing, but we seem to have reached a point where either we act or we watch the board die like Rivals.

This board totally abhors racism. We do however believe in free speech, therefore ethnic-inspired posts are not automatically removed. If you don't agree with them, exercise your own right to free speech and tear the fallacious arguments to pieces.

WARNING: free speech is not something to be abused. If any individual repeatedly puts up contentious posts or tries to pass off hate speech as free speech, he or she will be named and banned.

So to sum things up:

Rule #1 No racism. This does not mean that we cannot discuss race or the impact of immigration, for example, but outright racism is a no no.
Rule #2 No threats or direct abuse, direct or implied. Yes of course we can still say nasty things to each other in a tongue-in-cheek way; just make sure it's not threatening or abusive.

Anyone who digresses gets a warning, do it twice and they get banned.

It is hoped these guidelines will be accepted in the manner they are intended - as a mechanism to keep the board full of lively and friendly debate. However anyone who goes out of their way to break the rules will be unceremoniously booted off.

'RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN'....the 'wise' part is the hard one to quantify.

Maybe we should take another look at these RULES again folks!

In my humble opinion It's no, Ian.
By definition PMs are private so you have to deal with them in your own private way, as you would if it was said in private outside this forum.

Well, only the recipient has access to his own PMs so moderation in real time would seem problematic.
Put it this way, what would you do if you receved the same message in an e-mail.
