As most of my family now live in the midlands, when I'm in the town I do a food run for them all - pies/pease pudding/stotties etc. I was queueing in Morrells for the usual dozen growlers, and a woman joined the queue to ask if there were any left.

The lad behind the counter replied, "They've come out the oven, and he's just out the back putting the juices in them"

I've never liked pork pies, and this description sealed it for me. I'm happy to courier them down to my relatives but even if I was starving to death I don't think I could pouch one. Pies should have gravy in, not pig jelly.
