Firstly, yes Chip you need to get out more!

But while I'm here I may as well reply!

I've never gone by train to Walsall but there is a stop called Bescot Stadium and it drops you off about 3 inches from the away end. Exeters is close but not as close as that.

I did Rochdale on the train before and the taxi journey to the ground probably cost more than the train ticket.

I'm sure Craven Cottage is a good half hour walk from any tube too.

Do tubes fall into your line of interest or is it just trains?!

i did say im not talking tube stations.

most london grounds are fairly close to a public transport link.

didnt shrewsbury used to be next to the train station ?

Am surprised I missed the bit about tube stations considering how engrossed I was in the post!

Shrewsburys was a 15-20 minute walk. Their new ground is probably out of town somewhere, ie in Wales

Gillingham- 10 minute walk.

The nearest pub to Wycombe is about 11 miles away so can't see the station being too close

Oxford and Wycombe both have bus services between the ground and railway stations on matchdays. I've used them both, Brighton has a bus shuttle service from the main Brighton station, although Preston Park is quite a close train halt to their ground.
More clubs should have this.

I reckon Rushden has to be the furthest away one, as Wellingborough station is over 5 miles away and that's the nearest stop.

Hull used to have a railway station right behind the stand at Boothferry Park (the big often empty stand on the left as you looked from the away end) up til about the 1960s.

West Brom was about a 15-20 minute walk from the station last time we played there but they've built a new station right near the ground now which I believe is primarily for the footie.

In the general scheme of things The Vic is well close to Hartlepool station, it's just a shame that no trains bother going to the fker.

aye, the locality of the station is only as good as the train service that goes through it.
I nominate Hartlepool to have the worst train service in the country for any equivalent sized town.

I do my shopping just over the road from Glanny Park and I don't live anywhere near Scunny! (well, not near enough to admit :uhoh: )

I am pretty sure Bury doesn't have a mainline train station. I think they only have links with the metro that runs to Manchester.

Orient doesn't have a British Rail station, just a Tube station.

Is Barnsleys close to their station, I remember walking from the car park near the ground to the pub for a few beers and we crossed some railway lines but I don't know if the station is near there though

I would like to nominate Wrexham's as a ground close to a train station.
