I resigned from work a few months ago. I had to give three months notice which I didn't have to work but got paid for. Its known as garden leave. You're not allowed to work for anyone else in the meantime mind you.

The bad news is that as of next week I have to start my new job. I have to work for a living! I've got to get up in the morning, drive to work and do stuff before going home again.

NB: Just for Mr Half Wit, I mean Half Pint, I - you know that company we discussed a while ago, I got a call yesterday from the group MD - my new job might not happen if I go back there. If I do I'm going to report you!

Why can't you work for anyone else while doing your notice??

Anyway, I want a job too. I'm off to a fair in Durham this very minute and hope to get a few lucrative offers :coool:

Be careful if they ask you to do the waltzers, it looks a bit dangerous.

Mebbe bingo or hook a duck will be more up your street.

Thats the deal I'm afraid. Typically theres a signed agreement to that effect, an addendum to your contract of employment. It quite normal in any senior management role, its for commercial reasons. They don't want you going off to the competition with current information basically.
