Seems though we've had all this talk about the weaknesses of the team if you could magically make any 3 former players to return who would they be?

Darren Knowles.
Paul Cross.
Dean Emerson. (Before he broke his cheekbone and lost his bottle)

The only reason for not saying Brian Honour (when he was the greatest Pools player I've seen) is that our needs in other positions are so much greater.

Our need for full-backs is so chronic that I reckon that when I have won the Euromillions on Friday I will buy Lewington from MK Dons for Pools before I buy myself a Jag XKR.

Michael Nelson's game lst night was not helped by him having to mark three men at once- his man, McCunnie's man and McCunnie himself. In the first half McCunnie reached a height of incompetence that I haven't seen since John Borthwick played. Embarrassing.

Lewington is class, no question. Strong as an ox, great tackler and good distribution.

Mark Tinkler- At his best in my opinion is the player since he stopped playing we have missed the most. Not a holding midfielder or an attacking midfield player just a proper midfield player. Could tackle and do the ugly side of things but also could play also always chipped in with goals.
Dimi- See our defending and our goals against column since he left
Rob Mckinnon- One of the best players we've ever had, I have no idea how and why he stayed so long in days before we went up!

I remember reading an article a year or two back about Tony Skedd now being a physiotherapist or something similar. It was in the Mail - it must be true.

I can only mention players I've seen.

Dimi - goes without saying
Bryan Drysdale - left back sorted for EVER!

Those two will do. We can fabricate a right back from within the ranks.

I agree with PJ about Mark Tinkler, and would also choose Dimi.

I didn't see many of the players you lot have mentioned, but controversially I would say Jack Ross, if he could be magicked into a more robust and rational frame of mind. I know what you're going to say so don't bother! But he was bloody good and we need a RB

Defensive problems really sorted. And not just by booting the ball (or the opposition) as far as possible upfield.
