anyone ever tried to trace theirs? bloody addictive and hard work.
well interesting though,just looking at the 1901 info and the street that my great grandad lived on and in 10 houses in the street there are 63 kids registered!!
anyone recognise a street name of slake row?

I imagine Slake Row would have been next to the Slake. The Slake was a kind of mud lake inside the dock area where they had started reclaming land from the water but never saw the project through. As you approached the Headland border guards it would have been on your right just before Throston Bridge.

Just near my back garden! In those days you could drive right through from Middleton and drive past the Slake and come out just before Throston Bridge nearly opposite the coal depots

found a few maps of the headland you can see where it was,on one it was called the slake or scouring reservoir and it covered 173 acres,now looking at a more upto date map it looks like a beck

Apparently he stood as Independent in Park by-election in 2006...don't know what he's been up to since
