I really think Eifions been treat badly over the last couple of years, for me he`s been a good player for us and deserves a better run in the team in his favoured position as striker and not stuck out on the wing! to see players like bullock put in ahead of him lately must of shattered the lads confidence! banghead banghead banghead

Carnt agree anymore, I was glancing through Ritchie's book the other day "From tears to chears" And Efo seems to score week in week out. And now he does'nt seem to be given a go !!

From memory, if he scored just 2 in every 10 of the 1 on 1's with goalkeepers he had last season we would still be div 1.

He isn't the answer, never was and never will be unfortunately.

I've always been a big eifion fan and reckoned he would have been a 15 goal striker every season for us, if he was played up front. All strikers miss chances.
However, last season he just didnt seem to have it, even at the latter stage of the season when it seemed we might still have a chance of staying up. This season he's done nothing to disprove that. I think he should have been one of many to be released pre-season.
He's been great for us in my opinion but he needs to move on. Having said that I would probably still play him ahead of Gibb.

He used to Bang them in for Bangor and he used to like notching against Pools if I'm not mistaking I think he may have scored a hat-trick against Pools on his Torquay debut!

wilson will never know how most of the squad would perform with a run of games
he changes things at the drop of a hat
how can you judge Effion or anyone on last season they were all bad

I think Eifion Williams' treatment has been poor over the past couple of years; I couldn't believe when he was subbed on as a midfielder, and Bullock was substituted up front. What kind of man management is that?

Still feel if he's given a good run in the side and get his confidence going he'll start banging them back in for us.

Foley could turn out to be a good player but just needs some beef behind him, Esp in this league. Same could be said for James Brown.

Too many managers have played Efo in the wrong position and its ruined the lad if you ask me. How many good games has he had as a right winger? A handful if that.

Around Xmas time he scored in a few consecutive games and what does Scotty do....? Drop him.

I still don't think James Brown has been given enough of a chance. 8 starts for the club and scored 3 goals. I don't think Wilson has EVER played Joel and Brown upfront (MadJohn will say for certain) which is criminal if you ask me. Persisting with Jon Daly is not the answer, and thats obvious from the 9 games he's now gone without scoring.

Duffy and Brown for me next Saturday

Brown and Duffy? A bit lightweight for me and very little experience between the pair, brown has the ability but does he yet have the strength physically or mentally to make an impact consistantly??? Duffy yet to prove he can do it at this level but yes id give him a chance. foley looks a great prospect, id play him on the right, Daley is a non entity most of the time and his brief goalscoring spell looks to be a flash in the pan! Eifion and duffy for me, and 20-25 mins for brown towards the end if its not working![/b][/quote]

I understand what you're saying and agree that Brown is lightweight but Duffy has played enough football in his short career to be able to handle the piss poor defences of League 2.

We are creating hundreds of chances every game, we are not winning games because the strikers aren't clinical enough. To solve that problem, I'd put two strikers who both know where the back of the net is ans Duffy and Brown can both do that.

I would definitely play Duffy. He has shown in his career that he knows where the goal is and that is what we are missing. I would probably start with Duffy and Brown on Saturday.

No doubt for me, but I think Wilson will go with that bollocks and totally unproven throey that you need a big man upfront away from home

banghead

they all have no problem scoring in the reserves. effion started a home game reccently and was as poor as the rest of them.
I agree, they always use their performances in the reserves as some sort of justification, sadly it's a whole different ball game from the league however.

Taking this thread back to its initial point, Effion scored 2 last night, but apparently missed 3 sitters. Although the fact that Bullock is supposed to have set them all up, makes it a little hard to believe.
