Quite an interesting article and surprising considering the normally pro HUFC nature of that sites editorial. If there is substance in what is being alleged the world of HUFC has indeed gone mad. (allegedly)

It's irrelevant without the other side of the story. I suspect Ken Hodcroft will have a different take on it but it all adds to the mysteron approach that we seem to get from Pools.

A touch more openness would do you the world of good Mr H.

If anything like this is true (and it looks as tho it has to be something like this), then no rational chairman could possibly expect the Mail to comply. Perhaps it's a cunning plan to be able to get the Mail off the rational chairman's back

Paerhaps any fans who appear in the photos in the Mail or on the club web-site should also ask for a royalty fee or a % of the advertising. Indeed should the club publish photos showing any members of the public without their permission, especially minors?

Exactly, once you start tinkering with the copyright idea, it falls into a morass. All sitters for portraits, all subjects of biographies etc etc etc will start demanding cuts

It's a none story for me, a petty squabble between club and newspaper.

I don't buy the Mail, I wonder what the circulation figure for the Mail is in Hartlepool, I can't really see it being a problem that affects the size of the crowd we get for home games.

Lets put it this way, perhaps in the modern day of tinterweb, the Mail needs HUFC more than HUFC needs the Mail, hence the mud slinging from the Mail.

As for John Riddle's story, I was embarrased for him and the site whilst I read his words.

I've said it before and I'll say it once more, the Bartlepool Mail is a bounder

If it had its way, Pools would feature about six pages in from the back each night, and the Wingate and Tow Law Sunderland supporters branch would be featured on the back page on a regular basis

To repeat

It's a bounder of a newspaper

Printing Ken Hodcroft's phone number was pathetic.

Toss of an article written by a toss of a bloke who likes to think he knows everything when really he knows nowt.

I have no idea who is to blame for all this crap cos both sides haven't given their account, and unless they do we'll probably never know for sure what it's all about.

But that doesn't stop Mr Knowitall to pretend he knows whats going on just to get his name in print again. stpid

Is this the guy that likes to get his photo taken with anyone remotely well known? He is a poster, I think, on the other pools board. Bit of a knob I reckon.

I believe he's got the general points correct about the spat. It's definitely a contractual and copyright argument and if the details are correct then in my humble opinion the Mail are right to refuse to sign. It's an unreasonable demand from Pools.

But if you know that to be the case, did you feel the need to commit to print in order to see your name splashed about in the hope it might give you a hard on or help you pull a pensioner at the tea dance?

He'd rather try and preach to people who he thinks can't see through him for the egotistical megalomaniac that he is.

PS. Open brackets ALLEGEDLY close brackets etc.

Who thinks that he has found a suitable bandwagon to jump on in order to boost his own obviously low self-esteem with this Mail story.

But not with lets all follow the leader and slag off John Riddle it's the article in question not the man.

Exactly. Plenty on here who just follow others and slag people who they have probably never even met!!! Its all ifs and buts so to even slag off the article never mind slag off John Riddle is out of order.

Did I slag him off? I said I was embarrased for him, and I am, it's a very poorly constructed story, and the use of (alledgely) is laughable.

John is a pools fan, he was born in Huddersfield and supported pools from an early age. The article about him was wrong. He's already explained this to a few of us so I thought I'd let you all know.

Plus he's had the bottle to come out and put his name to an article that brings to light the ridiculousness of the spat between the club and the mail. If you don't agree with it then fair enough but to insult someone because of it is poor form.
