Posts: 2079 As from Wednesday they and there family's are the new landlords of the millhouse.

Cameron's brewery just bought it back from S&N two months ago and have spent around £75K refurbishing it , it is VERY smart inside now, everything in the bar is brand new, flooring, bar and back bar, seating, pool table, digi jukebox, 42'' plasma TV screens (Sky coming very soon) and all new wall decorations.
The lounge has just had a good lick of paint, new carpet, new bar and back bar, 42'' plasma TV (coming for Sky) and still to be added this week, a whole load of Pools stuff.
The brewery approached me and our lass to take it on 'cos they want to make it a proper football pub and they headhunted us based on what we used to have down the Jacksons Wharf, the difference this time is that it will be fully aimed at home fans.
Me and her couldn't afford to do it on our own so Nobby and their lass have come in as business partners .
Our main objective is to make it a proper old fashioned type pub, with reasonable prices where people can come, not just on a matchday but any day and sit drink and have a chat, watch tv/sport, read the paper all without having to spend an arm and a leg but still being in decent surroundings. How many pubs are there left like that in the town ?
We will be open before the game on Friday (actually we'll be open Wed night but we'll just be familiarizing ourselves) if you fancy popping in to have a look, please don't think I'm just trying to get you in for any reason other than I thought you might be interested AND impressed.
We've got the press and a few Brewery bigwigs coming around 6 on Friday, you might get your very ugly mug in the paper.
Pop in guys and have a look i will be.

I'd pay to watch that. rolfl

It would have to be a 3 way tie though with Mutters as well.

I might have a look in myself, the Jackson's Wharf 'Pools Bar' was a great pre match pint hopefully this will take off in similar fashion.

It's not the hounds you have to worry about in there, it's the bum boys who sit in the lounge near the lavvy door making farty noises and squeaking 'virgin' at decent people on their way for a lag.

I have a prior appointment with the inside of me eyelids seeing as it'll be 3.45am when kick off comes around.

Like most people, I am not a fan of Friday night kick offs. Does Mr Hodcroft think about those who subscribe to Poolsworld from afar and then can't stay up all night for the commentary?? Does he fuc!! Consequently we pay for a one and a half minute scratchy video of the 'highlights,' sometimes with soundtrack, sometimes not.

And them mincers in the Millhouse Lounge. I hope Dave and Nobby leather 'em!!

I can't really complain I have had mine from new for 8 years and it has 128,000 miles on the clock and I have only spent about £500 or so on it.

What is worse though is I am going to get a new one from work but have to wait until December to get it, so I am carless for nearly 3 months, I don't know how people can live without a car I know I am lost without mine

We'll meet at the usual place for a bit of "how's your father". Hose ourselves down, and then have a manly drink with the rest of the good time boys.

OK.

Less than £1.50 a bottle?

The old Mill House in the days of 2000 crowds in the 80's used to be a cracking pub on match days. Have seen us stay in their all nite after the match and shunned the town , the crack was so good. Remember been in there after one particular game , a second round FA Cup match against Notts Co in 1988, what a nite!!!

While I want to wish the new owners all the best, I dont understand why more you dont go in the Pools bar for a pre-match pint, or cup of tea. You get to meet the players, or some of them, we have a huge screen, plenty of seats, and nice food. Its also tastefully decorated. To me you are all missing a treat.

Mainly because we tried that a couple of seasons ago, it was shite and we stopped. The idea of employing catatonic bar staff selling warm flat beer and serving their mates first has never been a winner when the day has to run to a timetable.

And the chips were soggy and the grub took half an hour to go cold so you could expect service within 50 mins.

Hope the above helps. Dave tried to.
