1st half was pretty even but as soon as the 1st goal when in we gave up

should of had a least a penalty in the 2nd half when it was 1-0 and Leicester's 2nd goal, Collins got an elbow in the face whilst challenging for a header

Overall a dissapointing game at a rain-soaked freezing cold Victoria Park

well if you did go you have seen that foley still isnt a right winger and that alan power will probably never play for the club again as jonny rowell came on for 25 minutes and was outstanding and can pass the ball well, holds it well and looks the part. power is out of shape and may be fair in the tackle, but cannot pass the ball well at all - only nelson has worse distribution. pity as in some peoples eyes he looked the part. rowell is good enough to start next saturday and soon the fading memory of a fit willie boland will be just that - a memory as he will probably never get a look in as well.

quite possibly wilsons most astute substitution ever
rowell for england

I agree with Katcha - I wasn't impressed with Power at all. There was no urgency in Pools play at all tonight and i thought ALB could of done better on the first goal.....

Jonny Rowell was impressive, and Foley should play up front or not at all. Matty Robson also played ok in parts but all in all I sort of wish I'd went to the gym instead.....

power didn't have a good game, but rowell was naive and lightweight when he came on. he showed two half decent bits of skill and completed a couple of regulation passes. to claim that power or boland are finished because of a midweek twenty minute cameo almost beggars belief

Even if we knew the result (which I suppose a lot of us did), I'd've still gone. It's a Pools home game, especially now I'm in exile

You really are quite depressing sometimes, Mr Tree, even more depressing than the result last night, with your outlook on life.

Call yourself a Poolie ? You don't deserve to call yourself a Hartlepool United fan !!!! rage

Quite frankly I'm glad you didn't go to tonight or on Saturday - I wouldn't want you there.

mark my words aido

the euphoria that greeted powers turnout preseason has failed to bear fruit

rowell will be huge for this club

i hope rowell will be a worldbeater mate, but that showing proves absolutely nothing. power looked off the pace, but why write him off at this early stage ? don't tell me you're falling prey to the pools' fans disease ?

Couldn't agree more.

And I agree with PoK, to an extent - why follow Pools if you on't go to the matches (if there's the element of choice)?

Couple of my mates said exact same thing about qpr. city looked a class act tonight. They didnt even really seem to hit top gear aswell i thought. I thought we did ok last twenty mins of first half, kept the ball well and tried to pass our way through them, bet they were very well drilled and to tough to crack. Few chances we did have fell to Richie Barkers head and he should have done better. How Joels effort stayed out near the end is beyond me. I thought Robson had a solid game and except one or two crosses, he put in some cracking balls into the box, we just missed a killer touch when the few chances fell our way.

We were poor.

If we were still playing now we wouldn't have scored.

McCunnie being lazy cost us the first goal, he was told to keep it in (which was dead easy to do) cos it would be their throw in but just watched it roll out instead. They scored direct from the throw in.

Foley has looked a little better of late playing up front so the dozycunt of a manager plays him on the wing where he is always rubbish. And he was rubbish again.

Power was poor. His passing was poor too, on a pitch like ours he can play passes along the floor instead of bouncing them into team mates and slowing the moves down. It's a shame cos his vision is great, hopefully he can improve.

Nelson could star in a John Smith's advert.

Barker did well but tired and proved he aint got 90 minutes in him anymore.

Robson is definitely continuing to improve.

The rest just didn't get into it, outclassed by a better team. I'm glad it was only a tenner.

what was very worrying was how once again we started launching long balls as soon as we went behind. worst culprit by far was nelson who lumped 3 aimless balls upfield in the space of 5 minutes gifting them possession. of the 4 defenders he is the last one you want to be given the responsibility to play the ball forward.

as i pointed out 2 weeks ago as well why oh why oh why oh why does gary liddle run 25 yards back towards his own goal to get a short ball off nelson or collins and then pass it straight back to them ? even worse tonight was when he gave a goal away by trying to do it and getting caught in possession.

thats twice already this season and once at the end of last season he has done it. ffs gary stop !!!!!

chip i thought you played at a decent level?
central midfielders drop back like that to create space as it drags one of the opposition midfielders out of position. the likes of scholes, carrick, lampard, gerrard etc do it all the time.
you of all people should know that!

I wouldn't ever say I wish I'd never gone, simply because without watching games like that you'd never get an idea of where your team is in the order of things. If that's what's required to do well in the Championship, then Pools are light years away from competing in there!!!

Last nights team is light years away. Maybe it just shows up the weakness of our squad overall. Our first 11 are fine on their day, but what lies beneath is quite scary. The lack of a quality replacement striker is the most alarming thing to me.

My opinion of last night was that it was disappointing obviously to go out, but I think we were just purely outclassed by Leicester last night. If they continue their early good form this season, they will win the division by a country mile with a record points tally.

Unfortunately the Curse of Steve Howard struck again - it's not many times i say that we should have kept a player but here is an exception. How many times has he scored against now ? Talk about a point to prove. We just can not win games that he plays in. It's like a jinx. The firepower in there team is Championship class - Howard though old is not past it, Fryatt is quick and skilful, Dyer is experienced with double-winning MK Dons.

Congratulations to Jonny Rowell on his senior Pools debut, he must have deserved it to come on last night, but I would have thought he would have put Porter on as soon as we went a goal down or something, I thought it was a big surprise bringing him on.

At least we know our limits now: West-Brom was historically terrific for the Club, but unfortunately a one-off.

Unlucky Pools. Lets concentrate on the League for the first time this season and 3 points against Millwall on Saturday !

I didn't want to go to Wembley anyway.

Which part of the ground did you form that view from?

Were you nice and dry in the seats or behind the goal or getting a drenching on the Millhouse Terrace?

From the part of the Town End specially installed in my upstairs back room 283 miles away in Gillingham - I listened to Pools World. clappp rolfl
