Post subject: ALB & a note to Danny Wilson

I thought he had a shocker tonight. He was praised on Saturday but brought back down to earth this evening.

He flapped at everything first half and was terrible for the first two goals. The second (I'm not sure if he slipped?) he just laid down and presented the full goal to the lad. I don't think he is turning into a "fine young goalkeeper" even if he is improving. He lacks agility for me. He did make a couple of decent saves later in the game.

Note to Wilson; We aren't good enough to rest four players against a side like Leicester. We had some momentum going into tonight with two excellent wins, why change it? FFS players don't need a rest after seven games.

Positives, Robson and Humphreys had fine games, and Rowell impressed when he came on. He certainly based on tonight should be above Power in the pecking order. It's fair to say Power had an off night but the jury is certainly out with that lad. He is the polar opposite to Humphreys, totally out oh shape whereas Humphreys has never looked better.

Leicester had the likes of Matt Frayatt and DJ Campbell on the bench which underlines the strength they have but I think our best eleven could certainly compete with them. Our first eleven are a good side, beyond that we'll struggle to compete. I hope we don't get many injuries this season or it could be a long one.

ALB was on the deck long before the lad shot for the second he made it very, very easy for him.

alb was beaten at his near post by howard for the first goal, which is a cardinal sin for a keeper really. the second goal tho i thought was a great finish, the lad just took it well.

he actually made 2 or 3 good saves i thought, one in particular down to his left.

he looks better than he did last season, but as i said last week he hasnt really been tested yet.

didnt understand brown going off unless at that point wilson had accepted it was game over and wanted to rest him before saturday.

didn't the first goal take a deflection off Nelson?

i thought he was outstanding 1st half. But thought he could have done better for their 2nd.

Outstanding first half!?

He kept putting us under pressure by coming out and missing crosses, what about when they hit the post? He was extremely shaky possibly intimidated by the likes of Howard.

The first was a miss hit from Howard which rolled very tamely in at the near post, shocking goal.

Everyone is quick to blame ALB but what about Nelson and McCunnie backing off Howard to allow him the time and space to pick his spot?

First of all hi everyone, first time poster, long time reader!
ALB makes me very nervous, yes he does make some really top draw saves but he looks very uncertain coming off his line. Tonight he looked terrible at corners etc especially first half when Dickov and Howard put him under pressure! however he did make a couple of decent saves.
The defence looks very shaky when people are running at them and we need to learn stop this happening. There's nothing wrong with taking a yellow card to stop a goal!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a keeper should have been our top priority in the summer on the strength of last seasons performances and that was my measure of intent by the club for this season... it never happened. It looks like a case of making the best of what you've got, we'll just have to see.

Misterb2001, Have you EVER EVER EVER criticised a player??? You are like the exact opposite of Tree. To praise ALB after that first half yesterday is laughable. Maybe your rose-tinted specs are hampering your vision? You should get yourself to specsavers banghead

ALB is turning into a good keeper as this season has prgressed. The way some are talking on here it is almost as though tehy are blaming him for the defeat last night which is bang out of order.

1st Goal: How has Steve Howard been able to twist and turn the way he did? OK it was a sloppy goal but you have got to look at the four in front of ALB that howard had rang out to dry.

2nd Goal: Sam Collins did not even look at the ball, his intention was to give Howard a diog, which never paid off and the forward was through on goal. 1 v 1 with a big open goal 99% people would favour the forward.

3rd Goal: We were dead and burried and they caught us with a good offensive attack. For me I would start and look at other selections Wilson made tonight. I have defended Foley all this season but he was at teh races tonight. Never settled in from the start and his confidence drained as the game went on. Robson, had a good game on the left wing, and if he could work a little on his crossing instead of just drilling it across the goal mouth he would be a cracking player.

Well said. clappp

We know he's not Peter Shilton but he's nowhere near as bad as some of the moaning sods on here are trying to make out.

He punched convincingly once, the rest he either missed or made poor contact (like the one when they hit the post). What's wrong with catching it?

We aren't asking for Peter Shilton, just someone better to compete for his place. What happens if he gets injured? We need a keeper.
