It's a matter of weight ratio. A twelve stone bloke concentrating all his weight on one foot encased in a Doc Marten can exert a downward pressure of some 12 tons per square inch at arrested terminal velocity. A nuclear blast has no arrested terminal velocity as it just flattens everything in it's path.

Simple really.

...so surely an unarrested terminal velocity will be greater then 12 tons per square inch as the blast is greater than the boot, so surely your thesis is seriously flawed and utter bollox as well (Dibble taught me to say ....'bollox')

Right well, here's the deal me owld sea-going, blue goldfish hunting chum.

I'll stamp on a cockroach wearing a DM and see if it survives.

You stand half a mile from a nuclear blast and if you survive I'll buy you a pint.

Everything is bughger all without an impact.........

I know lets ask a student!! Mampi?? Ginger??

HOWEVER, if yiou wanna know the most stoodent friendly bars, the cheapest beer, the most willing totty, the cheapest food, the availibility of pharmaceuticals...ask them by all means......Where was I ...AH YES...if the cocKroach was stood next to me when the bomb went off....IT WOULD BE COCKROACH HISTORY..........I don't believe we're having this discussion.

...I must admit that that particular scenario failed to cross my mind, ...however, by using the phrase 'dead hard', are you not conceding the unfortunate creature to be deceased....?

No. Although the phrase 'dead good' might be applicable to, say, Bill Hicks, who was good and is yet, dead. For the purposes of the exercise though, let's assume that cockroach is still alive.

Then how come a size 11 Doc Martin boot can crush them?

We've got cockroaches at work, had them about three months though there's not many of them left nowadays.
Anyhow, yeah you can crush them, its true.
When we discovered them at the hostel it was by pulling the fridge out.
Millions of the little bastards ran about all over the place and we ran after them, stamping on them as fast as we could.
Well pleased with ourselves
Until the pest control man told us it was the worst thing to do because it releases their eggs and means you'll end up with loads more than you started with.
So your theory about docs.......the cockroaches win
