In this latest round of the League Cup I was actually hoping that all the higher league clubs beat all the lower league ones (Pools excepted, natürlich) just to make our giantkilling act look even dead gooder like.

But seeing as Northampton fooked that up I hope we get them at home in the next round.

On Tuesday it was the best competition in the world.

It still is.

Until we get knocked out.

Have to agree with Elvis. To a club of our size a run in the Carling Cup is not worthless. Yes the big teams will play reserves simply because they have their sights set on the Premiership/FA Cup or european glory, even those only in the UEFA Cup. But to Pools Northampton and similiar clubs its a possible lifeline and maybe even the difference between staying afloat ( probaly not in our case) and going into administration.

I expect fans of Arsenal, Chelsea Man U and Liverpool to say it worthless not fans of Pools.

Let's be honest even if we played Man U reserves/youth team at Old Trafford and pulled off an unlikely win, would it be worthless then.

Simple answer...............NO........ WE could live on the glory for many years.

And i bet there fans of many teams who have been knocked out willing to swap places with us to be in the draw on Saturday.

If we reach the 3 rd round of the FA Cup will some on here say thats worthless as lets be realistic we not going to win either, but by heck will the money from a run to the 3rd/4th round of the FA Cup come in useful. Because if we get Man U in the 3rd round of the FA Cup then Im pretty sure Ferguson will play almost the same team against us then as he would if we drew them in the next round of the Carling Cup.
