I was at the Man Utd game in a fairly sparsely populated ground.

1-0 huge cheers
2-0 bigger cheers
3-0 wild cheers
4-0 big cheers but heads being scratched
5-0 subdued cheers and disbelief
6-0 murmured cheers and lots of people shaking heads.

A good night, hilarious to stuff them 6-0 but a great night........ naw. On the scale of great days it doesn't even register when compared to the likes of Cardiff. Yes we lost but it wasn't just about the result, it was about little 'artlepool playing in front of 60 odd thousand people and almost doing the unthinkable. A bit like the 4-3 Man Utd game before most of us were born.

yes but its fun reminding the manure fans at work about it.

Oh aye, the result stands no question and I seem to remember Ferguson mentioned it in his autobiography. (Alex not Sarah)

Giggs will have only been 13/14 in 1987, have they not made a wee mistake there?

Crikey, a page that doesn't have Poolie of Kent claiming a 70% share of coverage.

And Mr Kent, you genuinely radiate some kind of optimistic autism. As much as I like your attitude, I do wonder if your head is permanently in the clouds in real life as well as usually. Sometimes you don't even know the ramifications of the things you are posting that seem to get you into all kinds of scrapes... that credit crunch line was a belter, you blatantly haven't earned proper money in your entire life rolfl

I'm not afraid to speak my mind, Mr Ginger - let's just let bygones be bygones.

I think you'll find Sarah mentioned it too, i recall reading of her her disapointment at missing the fourth goal as she was squatting to take a pee behind the rink end.

i wouldnt put last night in my top six games in the history of pools. we beat a disinterested west brom reserves in the second round of a cup nobody takes seriously anymore. it was an achievement, it was exciting but....

cardiff would have to be top probably. the stadium, the attendance, the prize at stake, the atmosphere.

tranmere in the semi final wouldnt be far behind given what was at stake. i cried at the end.

northampton at home when we won on the last day of the season to get promoted. im not ashamed to say i stood on the rink end terraces and blubbed like a baby.

rushden away when we played for the title.

darlo away in the play off semi final...a massive game.

bristol city away in the play off semi.

2 or 3 games in the run in during the season we nearly went out of the football league. games against carlisle and scarborough i think that were absolutely massive.

its great to beat a prem side in the cup but there wasnt anything massive at stake. and i wouldnt put it ahead of the palace win simply because the palace game was the f.a. cup and the eagles had a few england internationals and big time charlies in their line up. the baggies on the other hand had nobody noteworthy playing for them last night. they looked and played like an average championship side.

Haway though Chip - it was a great achievement - & may well be the best Pools performance we see this season. They may have been "disinterested" but their quality showed, particularly in the first 15-20 minutes

like wise mutters, that is easily the worst post i have ever seen and quite possibly the stupidest football comment i have ever seen or heard in my entire life.

if you are basing football quality on celebrity status than we would be top of the league with our very own... peter mandleson!
