Richie Barker no way !

Honestly, this journeyman is not the answer to our goalscoring dilemma. He is slow and has failed at Sheff Wed and Rotherham.

How many more times do we have to realise a big man is not the answer -Hendo, Marcus Richardson, Steve Howard when he was at Pools, dare I say Mr Daly, cannot consistently score goals.

The answer is some practice on the training ground to give people self belief.

However in this division since the start of 2005/6 he's hit the net 27 times (plus 6 in cups). He's struggled when going higher (particularly in Championship), but we're not there - we're at the level where very few have scored more than him in the last 18 months.....

Big, little, it don't matter - I'd be happy with Giant Haystacks if I thought he stood a good chance of scoring 15 goals between now and the end of the season....

Isn't the deal all off now anyway as Barker apparently failed to agree terms at the weekend?

i may be wrong but the transfer window is shut and a club can only bring a player in if he hasnt got a contract with any other club ( which barker clearly has) or as an emergency loan. duffy qualified as an emergency loan as we have 2 senior strikers ( proctor and porter ) out with long term injuries. as porter has now effectively been replaced by duffy it could be argued that the "emergency" is no longer an "emergency."

barker didnt get a kick at the vic when nelse was marking him, and would be, like boland, a short term replacement. he does however score goals on a regular basis and has the agression and will to get on the end of crosses that daly lacks.

personally i think you have to give this kid duffy a chance to do the business now hes here.

..couldn't he be taken on loan till January then signed... as for a short term fix, wasn't Watson exactly that....and to an extent Gabiadini... and who's to say you can't play Barker and Duffy together.....but it's all just speculation till it happens, if it ever does that is!

The rumour I heard was Barker was coming in a swap deal for Daly, Barker is very keen on coming here but Daly isn't keen at all on leaving.

Talks happened last week by all accounts. Not sure if it was a loan then permanment transfer or to happen in January.

Daly stalls transfer deal, a couple of days later he is subbed after 60 minutes to be replaced by Lee effing Bullock, Enough to change anyones mind!? Or maybe just a strange coincidence?!

same heard here - supposed to have been very very close to being a done deal - maybe mansfield didnt fancy daly - see what happens january - i reckon some cash will be spent.
