The squad is paper thin and if Foley is amongst all we've got on the bench, then we are in trouble. I sincerely hope that there are funds available to strengthen because if one or two key players such as Collins and Brown get injured, we aren't good enough to go away to 90% of teams in this league and avoid defeat. How many people will bet against us not losing again "unluckily" at Peterborough next week?
Stockport had nothing but team spirit, but it was still enough to beat us - yes their keeper was outstanding, but Stockport is one of the teams we HAVE to beat to keep away from trouble.

4th bottom has our name written all over it......................... bbolt

Early days ... but the form is very similar to last season, which considering the frantic summer inactivity is hardly surprising.

The problem today was we could not break down a side that came for a point. They sat back we try to break from defence or midfield and there was no movement. Porter and Brown both then have to go deep to get the ball leaving 1 striker in the box. What we need is a proper right full back and a proper right winger. Giving balance down both flanks. Then once these two players are in get another striker a goal poacher if you like.

Stockport are a side who will struggle in this division and we lost at home to them, better sides would have been 4-0 up at half time against them today.

Wilson's substitutions verged on the ridiculous, every game we have been 0-0 going into the last 10 at home apart from Peterborough when Duffy scored last kick we have lost. You think back to Barnet, Walsall, and today he chases the game and leaves us wide open.

Who was our midfield after Monkhouse went off?

Like everyone else I was totally gutted after yesterday but on reflection we shouldn't be too downhearted I suppose. Like Snowy and a few others have said it is a very similar pattern to last season. We played well yesterday and I thought we edged it overall. I don't blame Wilson for his tactics or his substitutions - the simple fact is we had the chances to win the game and we didn't take them. Our front two have to start being more clinical in front of goal - if you don't take your chances then you are always liable to get caught out with a sucker punch... sadx

Don't be so bloody melodramatic

You've had a bad day at the office, we all have them. We outplayed Huddersfield and only got a draw, we held Leicester but we hit the post, now we've scrambled a win out of nothing, and suddenly you're bound for the 'R' word.

did you actually watch the little man who came on as sub on the right wing?
That's why we're heading for trouble - if we have to field players like him.

It's a squad game.

Every substitution are going to be controversial for x, y or z reasons

I think that Hartlepool are a decent outfit, and looked very dangerous yesterday at full flight.

I dont think that you'd be worried about the "bottom four" as your correspondant suggested.

I think one of Wilson's subsitutions were the right one but the wrong man to leave the field of play. Barker should have come on in the 75th minute instead of the 87th. that game was ideal for him. Stockport were resilliant from the off throwing everything at us when we attacked. they had two big centre halves that Brown and Porter failed to get past. Therefore why not try something different which would have been Barker. Ball up to him hold it up and bring the midfield back into the game. I know i will probably get shot down for this but that is what i think. Barker done really well when he did come on. Its the same as away games. Teams always seem to come to the Vic soak pressure and snatch teh odd goal. we cant when we go away. why is this? because we play the same old tactics week in week out. Porter and Brown were simply too weak against a strong defence on saturday

Bolox.

I thought that overall we played well on Saturday and were unlucky not to score more than once due to an outstanding goalkeeper for Stockport, and that Stockport looked like quite a good team. I think we'll see a hell of a lot worse than them at The Vic this season.

The soft goal at the end was a bummer, but leaving the ground I thought that things were a million times better than leaving after some of the dogshite displays of last season which left you with nothing to be optimistic about. I think that we played quite well.

To me Stockport were a good, well organised team who looked to have well invested a good part of the 1.5 million-ish they've got in from transfers in 2008 and I would be surprised if they weren't top half come the end of the season.

Losing is never good, but sometimes it is possible to have played well and have hope for future games even in a defeat.

Although I do agree that a lot of the hope that we might nick a winner detoriorated when Baby David got on the pitch. He's still total cack.
