These are stats I can copy and paste, how Darlo Pete sits there and counts each post is beyond me. He really needs to get a life.

Now if you can excuse my curiosity do you actually make any money by running this board with all those hits etc.

I only ask as I know nowt about the setting up and running such and as this is fairly successful I often wondered if there is any financial gain for you,if there is good on yer.

Does it actually cost owt to run this board(see I told you I knew nowt).

Could you/would you explain to us mere mortals the ins and outs of running a board then we may appreciate even more all that hard work you do for us on our behalf to give us a voice now and then.

Make any money? from where? there is no advertising, there is no membership fees and there are no entry fees. Rivals and the like generate money from all of their adverts, we don't have any.

There is some good potential for advertising revenue for sure but it would be very localised in Hartlepool. Based on traffic or in other words - advertising potential and google optimisation (the level that google puts you when you search for something) I was told a while back that the site is worth probably 75k-ish. The site is now well known to Google so put in the likes or "Hartlepool Fans Forum" or Hartlepool United Fans Site" or simply "poolie bunker" and it appears in the top 3 or 4.

To put that into context, I've just searched for "supermarkets" and Morrisons came fourth in the list. Thats important when you are valuing a website. Frankly it has little of any value outside of Hartlepool.

It costs about £100 - £150 a year to run.

In terms of work; there isn't that much day to day. Daily backups, deleting Russian porn accounts etc but when it goes wrong - oh dear, the following two days disappear. Thats when the work starts. I have suddenly had to become an expert in SQL and phpBB (programming languages.) in order to fix things.

I'm currently building a new front page site which will have various areas with contributions from all sorts of people on the site. I may chuck a couple of adds in there just to cover the cost of running it. We did talk about a pixel page some time ago but the next day pools created one (it was entirely innocent) That requires a decent knowledge of HTML and graphics but it quite time consuming which is why its taking a while. I can only do an hour or two here and there when I have some spare time. Perhaps I should have been an Estimator.

My mate Pete has a great life. Apart from counting every single post on uncovered, he also faithfully spends Mon - weds on play for your club ensuring Darlo have some success between his 15 minutes of sleep he allows himself. He also has an extensive 8 track collection of Nana mouskouri songs.
