Announced a new tour this morning
The best band I have ever seen play live.
Never seen anything like it.

Anyone else agree?
Or anyone seen them live and not enjoyed it?

Saw them at lock lomond during the so called 'britpop' era. They were impressive but they are too much up their own arses now a days.

Heard Noel Gallagher on Radio One this morning, he said he dislikes Jeff Stelling for once predicting Man City to go down and even called him a "Monkey Hanger".

Taking all of that into account Oasis's new single was fooking shite (it really is).

Sadly yes Mr Donkey, I had four days in Finsbury Park with them in 2004 I believe. Not only were they quite average but they have the most obnoxious audience I have ever seen who pathetically try and ape the band. They pissed anywhere so much that they ruined the park and Hackney Council banned any gigs there for two years to try and restore it.

Now if you want a fun audience Madness are your blokes.

They are arrogant, foul mouthed, drug obsessed, typical Manchester scumbags producing white noise for the gullible.

A mate of mine seen Oasis at Newcasle Riverside when a punter got on stage & twatted one of them.
He did say though that they were excellent live when they were still a small venue band

F'in hell have they moved finsbury park into Hackney from Haringey?! When did that happen? Sorry, but it's marginally more interesting than Oasis............

quite possibly the worst band ever, i mean songs like Bring It On Down, Morning Glory, Magic Pie, The Masterplan, Gas Panic, Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Let There Be Love (as well as many others) definately all sound the same to me..... and the money what they've made from selling this dross you think that they could go and find something better to do rather than pissing it up against the wall....wankers the lot of 'em - and dont even get me started about their Ian Brown wannabe fans all wearing parker coats ffs - even when its not raining stpid

I don't think that anyone would want to be either of the Gallaghers but what is wrong with making music that a lot of people enjoy...? What is wrong with wanting to make money when you live in a shithole like they did?

Who are the daft ones? Them for making the money or the people who say they are rubbish? At the end of the day it is only music.....

I like Oasis, and the Stone Roses.

They make catchy songs that are easy to listen to, have guitars, loud drums and a bit of attitude.

Everyone should stop getting so deep, it's made to entertain people...which it does - if it's not your thing then don't listen to it. Simple

For the record, I'm not a thug who wears a parka, don't walk like Ian Brown after a good bumming and have quite a diverse musical taste. Next you'll all be saying NWA are shite!

No-one ever, anywhere in the world is going to admit that, during a conversation about music, if they haven't said it first, their favourite suddenly becomes not their favourite, OK??

Music houses the biggest snobbery in the history of man.

Oasis serve a purpose. They keep the proletariat happy.

So did George Formby. bbolt

I like Oasis.

Reading two pages with 99% hatred towards the band absolutely astounds me - I'm genuinely surprised. They don't have the number ones and fan following because of nothing. I don't think it reflects on the person who likes them at all either - I listen to anything from prog rock to hip-hop to electronica.

A bit sad that people hold such a hatred to them. I preferred Blur, Seahorses and Shed Seven more during the big Britpop era but some of their songs are brilliant.

Like Chipster I got bored with or perhaps just after their second album. The first two are the only ones I got and I dont play either. Having said that, I never got into Blur either.
Of course people can play whatever they like and music is full of snobbery but personally I think its a disgrace The Auteurs and Tindersticks are not that well known but Oasis are huge.
To me, Oasis are dull, very dull.
(and The Levellers - to use just one example of many - are far better)

Noel can hold a decent conversation so i don't mind listening to him talk when he's on tv

Can I just say that in my own opinion, Oasis are total shite.

If I hear anyone else pick up a guitar and try to impress people by playing Wonderwall I swear I'll stick the guitar up his or her arse.

I've lost count of the number of times I've said welcome to the board to people asking me to play something by Oasis.

Oasis: complete and utter gash. Even worse than the Clash.

a lot of people make music because they love it, and couldnt care less if that brings them fame or not.

it would be a tragedy if the sole reason people wrote songs was to appeal to as many people as possible i.e. the mass market.

some of us make the records that we want to make, irrespective of wether they will sell well. id certainly rather make a record im proud of rather than some dross i know will "shift units"

i would rather be myself than either of the gallaghers.

Seriously, I guess its no big deal that there are so many 30/40 something year olds who dont like/hate Oasis, im sure that they dont care with their world wide fame and millions in the bank...

I suppose it just comes down to taste, ie the people that like them have bad taste and the people that dont obviously have good taste.
I think thats fair.

First of all i dont like never have liked OASIS,
But i have to be honest here, all this stuff about "i dont care about the money or the fame, i do it cos i love music is total pish !!!!
I and several others on here, have been/still are in bands, you cant tell me that you havent sometimes thought about getting the big one, playing in large venues, selling your records to millions of people who love your stuff !!

Ok maybe not now cos we are older wiser and dont stand a fooking chance !

Like i said before in a post, i went to see Iron Maiden and there was Janick in front of thousands of people in one of the biggest Rock bands around, clearly enjoying himself, touring the world and i suspect, living the life most musicians dream of. He is probably very rich, writing his own music and playing it/selling it to millions...............a musicians dream surely !!!!

It's much the same in any walk of life, the people who 'make it to the top' almost certainly aren't the most talented, but will without doubt be the most driven. A limited talent and a 'need' to be the most successful at what they do will get them to where they want to be.

the clash were massively overrated, only the first abum had anything about it, london calling would have benefited from removing half the songs, give em enough rope was shit 1 good song on it(safe european home), combat rock was worse only 1 good song ghetto defendant and that ws only saved by alan ginsberg, anything that came after was utter shite! with the exeption of white man in hammersmith palais everything they did was mediocre, and by the way joe strummer was a complete cock end!!!

The Stones Roses were the greatest band ever - or were going to be. Their debut album was the greatest debut ever - or was definitely one of them. So said Ian Brown and his mates, and the music press.
Then it all went kaputt!
The music press needed someone else to push - another gang of working class lads cos thats what a rock n roll band is in rock n roll by numbers. Young teenage lads needed someone else to fill the gap left by the Roses.
And along came Oasis, with a good first album but just as imporantly the right attitude, the right big gobs, the right accent, the right swagger, the right clothes, the right haircuts and boom!!!

Chipster is right (though if I was him I'd have took the money and got on with it)

Aren't the members of the Beta Band in huge debt to one of the major labels? I'm sure I've read that somewhere before.
