People thinking of delaying buying a house because of this won't necessarily save. If they suspended stamp duty and it introduces a lot of people onto the market then there will be more people looking to buy your house which would push the price up.

But yes, the Government is fooking stupid and need to make a decision asap.

Its nigh on impossible to sell a house at the moment and the higher the value the greater the difficulty. Who is going to buy something when its likely to be a fair bit cheaper next month and the month after.

Uncertainty over whether stamp duty is going to change compounds that situation.

As you say, twats.

I've managed to renegotiate a new mortgage deal for my buy-to-let (the old deal runs out on the 16th of this month) rather than sell. I tried to sell it last year, but nobody wanted to buy.
Might as well keep it now - it's a house I wanted to move into myself but the wife didn't want to move there, so we went back to our old house (which I would have sold if we'd moved into the other one)

Isn't stamp duty on high value houses, like 200K?? I used to be up on this stuff but I've lost the thread now?? If it is, surely it won't affect too many people outside the south east, which lets face it, is all the bleedin' government care about??

I'd look it up but I can't be arsed, 'cos guess who else is selling a house, or rather ...not....

the Tories forced their hand on inheritance and capital gain tax thresholds. They need to force Labour's hand again, this time on stamp duty thresholds.
Sly, thieving-from-the-masses bunch of cock-knocking greedy Government c-unts

It is absolutely amazing how 'good' politicians are when they are not in power. The present government sounded great in opposition. What was it........it can only get better. It's a bit different after they get the front door keys. What is even more amazing though is the fact that people continue to fall for it. When you get rid of one politician what do you replace him/her with??? Surprise surprise................another politician. Now where have I heard that before?? sctatchinghead
