It's obvious why the rest of the country think we're going down, they've looked at last years table, factored in the points deductions that happened last year but won't this year, and the fact that no team will be as bad as Port Vale were. And the fact we haven't signed a keeper or a right back rage

It all spells one outcome, doesn't it...

Look the best thing that can happen is that the players read these predictions and most people in fact I'd say 70% of people think we'll go down.

Hopefully they'll realise this and set out to prove them wrong.

People have been calling us shiite for the last hundred years and saying it is just a matter of time before we went under. Anyway we didn't go under - come on lads as soon as the bell goes come out fighting rolf

Never say die :!:

now THAT would be the Hartlepool United we expect!!! I knew in 03/04 we didn't have the most individually talented squad but the sheer workrate and teamwork was great to see, and the football played was a joy to watch. That was because we had a defiant spirit and a determined manager, if we can repeat that recipe we'll do well. Ditto 04/05 season
However one thought - that never say die spirit had us outplaying supposedly better teams, and outfighting them - such as Danny Wilson's VERY LUCKY and outclassed team (and no other description describes his side's win in those play -offs).

I only looked at the first page of predictions, it's true, but only one of them said Pools were going down. sctatchinghead

As for this factoring-back-in-ten-point-deduction nonsense, anyone who does so and finds it would have left us lower than 16th has obviously missed his vocation as a mathematician.

To be fair from the second page onwards it has us as between 22nd and 23rd, nobody predicted us to finish bottom. All this is irrelevant.

We are little old Hartlepool, we should go down etc

We will prove them wrong.

The thing is, people are like sheep. Someone concocts a list and everyone else just copies and pastes it with a few edits on the ones they feel more strongly about, particularly their own team. So someone early on put Pools in the bottom four and everyone else who neither knows nor cares about Pools just left them there.

That last one's ridiculous!

Fancy imagining that Colchester will finish above Huddersfield.
