I am very interested in what people would have done instead of the Centenary Tournament? How much would you have charged? Would you have done anything at all?
I attended both days and like most people was disappointed with the turn out but of course it is up to the individual if they want to go or not. I will never be able to sit in the CK stand watching footy drinking so it goes without saying this was most enjoyable. clappp

What would people suggest we do for future pre-seasons?

Bear in mind you have to be realistic, no so called 'big' club are going to send their team to Hartlepool for a pre season friendly when most of them or off doing 'mini tours'

I think the Colchester game should have been billed as the 'centenary game'. Give out flags, have some pre match entertainment, parade some legends to the crowd. A cracking start to the season.

Apparently they paraded loads of ex players to the 250 Pools fans at the game on Sunday, which is absolutely shameful and embarrassing.

Lol they did. Poor Efion looked like a full time carer with all the 'oldies'.

The tournament was a good idea the choice of teams to play was awful, Sunderland Res team was a joke and it was have been much more fun to invite Darlo to play ans I feel sure that would of put at least another 1,000 on the crowd. As for Huddersfield I will see us play them soon enough next season and i am sure with a few phone calls we could of got Newcastle to play us that weekend in place of Donny.

The only game I would of liked to have watched didn't take place (Hamilton), with just a few tweaks we could of got crowds of around 4k on both days.

I like the idea of a mini tournament every year between the same 4 teams,(could play for the Wilton cup, the centenary trophy)

This competition would involve 4 local sides. Pools (of course) then any other 3 from Newcastle, Sunderland,Middlesbrough, Darlington,York or Carlisle. It probably be better if the teams are more evenly matched, so for that reason i would rule out the premiership teams as they would probably field reserve/ youth teams.

This competition would be played at a different venue of the participating clubs on a 4 year rotating schedule. All venues are fairly close for fans' and would surely be better attended than a tour of Holland or Scotland.

I'm with dunny, a family fun day would be excellent, i'd love to take jess along to something like that, rides, face painting, meeting of the players would be loads of fun.

Sunderland have done half price for pre-season friendlies for season ticket holders, thats good value.

i think it will and should happen every year

pools
the holders
european team over here
another league team

berwick used to do it regular - it's a first attempt and should be embraced

change the format 20-20 footy

20 mins each way, get all the games in in one day

I would invite her along as judging by the 4 sell out nights, she can pack em in.

There is a celebrity footy team that turns out organised by Micky Horsewell (think this is the guy) made up by current and past soap stars they could have come along.

The one time I remember going to Feethams in the Durham Senior Cup, I think we won easily that day too. The Poolies were taking the pee out of ex Poolie and then darlo keeper Jeremy Roberts (I think that was his name) so much that a Policeman had a word with one or two. It was funny as feck.

Yes it did. Kicked off at 11am, Bank Holiday Monday at Feethams.

Darlo wore Green Shirts, we wore our Red and Black "Spall" kit with the "Hansa" logo.

I'm pretty sure Bob Newton scored twice, which was certainly one of the few times he turned up at Feethams. You go through the records, Bob nearly ALWAYS missed the Derbies.

Is that when you were driving your Trusty Triumph Toledo????
