A loan move to Mansfield has hit snags at the last minute so Souter cannot join us,

I was very confident we'd be ok with a decent keeper this season. If we don't sign one on the basis of not being able to move out one of the others, then the bottom four is now a certainty. The situation really is that bad - and the manager who created the situation in the first place will still be here. I'd bullet the twat on the basis of the goalkeeping position alone.

I don't trust Pools to get a newkeeper even if the existing ones continue in the same vein as last season, they didn't do it then and they already seem reluctant to get a new one unless we get rid of either Budtz or Barrett? (obviously they're trying to get rid of Budtz - but nobody in their right mind would sign him if they've seen him - except Danny Wilson of course  )

This position is crucial - we'd have got another 15 points last season if it hadn't been for incompetence in goal - not mistakes, pure incompetence. Now that's bad.

PS - if we lose the first game due to inherent poor goalkeeping there'll be a few angry folks on here!!!!

absolute rubbish parmo. we finished last season outside the bottom 4 with the same keepers and we can easily do so again. i dont deny we could do with getting rid of budtz but if we cant then we are not guaranteed bottom 4 at all. the most complete over exaggeration of the day!

disagree - the difference between being comfortable this season and struggling could come down to the goalkeeping position!!!! There's not a lot of difference in ability in ANY of the teams this season. Any team with a shite goalie will habitually lose the game by the odd goal because of keeping errors. Put a good keeper in there and it won't happen.
By the way you're talking about last season.

yes we both are. and everybody should start afresh. consider wilson trying to get rid of budtz as a way of saying he made a mistake in signing him. its one thing to make a mistake. its another thing altogether to admit it. he has gone up a little bit in my estimation for that

isnt it plainly obvious that wilson is the type of manager that NEVER bad mouths his players. he isnt scared of dropping anyone or trying to get rid of anyone so we can rest assured that budtz will probably not be here next season. then maybe some of us can move on and try supporting instead of moaning

You know those reports that say, 'the keeper had little to do........' sctatchinghead

Why do you reckon they do that?? Maybe, 'the keeper was a spectator.....' They're funny them aren't they?? Keep cropping up every week...now how do you reckon that happens?? Of course there's the other view. 'The keeper doesn't inspire his defence with confidence....' But when you love the centre backs it's always going to be the keepers fault. Even the penalties.

Mind like, I don't go, but I know how to learn a mantra.....

Paint it anyway you want Hoi Chi Minh, and regardless if you are there or not, Janice is the worst keeper we've had since Fatty Moverley FACT!

I was abroad for most of Moverley's time but was he as bad as Steve Jones who followed on from him a few seasons later?.

When you think back over the years we have had some awful keepers and even the half decent ones couldn't kick straight.

Budtz loan deal fell through so we cant sign a keeper? I could understand it if it was a permanent deal for Budtz that fell through but not quite sure why a loan deal matters?

Agree about how many points we will lose without a decent keeper. The season we went up with Taffy in goal, with a competent keeper in goal we would have won the league by a mile. The amount of goals he was at fault for was criminal. But he had a laugh with the fans so was classed as a great keeper.

See TWH, this is the point regarding your posts, who regarded him as a great keeper?

You obviously didn't, I thought he was OK, no Dimi or Dodgy Hodgy and I bet if you questioned 500 of the fans who watched Taff, the vote would be a close thing on if they rated him or not

I guess it's about releasing funds to pay for a new keeper. Budtz & ALB both being on 2 year contracts can't be told to go - well they can but they'd have to be paid off. A shame when there is the Scottish keeper ready & willing to come in.

a scottish GK who many at Aberdeen thought was 'not good enough' so there would be no guarantee of an improvement

I would be ASTOUNDED if he became the keeper at Pools and be so bad, as to be on a level as the other two we currently have. As Harry Hill would say, "What are the chances of that then, eh"?

PS I don't see how people think we'll get away with Barrett either - the mistakes he makes, and rushes of blood he suffers from, are beyond belief as well!! Bournemouth away last season was embarrassing, he was very poor indeed.

From what I've seen of ALB he isn't good enough either, not really close to it.

He just looks like Lev Yashin next to the phallus fingered Dane.

Barrett isn't good enough, but I'll agree he's still better than Budtz. Mind that's hardly an achievement is it?

Fuck the budget, the facts are if you combined Budtz's and ALB's attributes you still wouldn't have a keeper up to league standard. We are desperate for a reliable keeper. Someone the back four can rely on, someone who as a fan when the ball goes near them you don't shite your pants.

It's absurd we are in this position, someone has to be culpable. If these keepers were signed on the recommendation of George Wood last summer he shouldn't be in a job anymore. The buck stops with the manager ultimately though......

Loads of peopel did. So much so all the talk was of him making the Welsh National Squad and people calling him our best ever keeper. Figures of £500k being banged about for him. A few penalty saves and a few smiles to to the Town End and the fickle as fuck Poolie fans think he is god. Told everyone he was gash and I was proved right, just like with Kevin Henderson and he was utter gash but some really believed he was the messiah. I told everyone he was shit even when banging them in and as soon as everyone realised I was right, it was-"i never thought he was that good anyway"

agreed - ship out some outfield players then. We need a keeper - end of story.

And again LOADS of people didn't rate him!

And getting a call up (or almost) for the sheep worriers is hardly worthwhile, is it?

And Henderson was the right player at the right time, or did you never cheer when he scored because YOU and YOU alone KNEW all along he was 'shite'?

I would imagine he didnt cheer when he scored, Because he wanted to go onto the Morale high ground and say "See I told ya so"
