The truth is there's no such thing as twice as cold, just like there's no such thing as twice as thin, twice as short, or twice as empty. You would need a scale that measures coldness/shortness/thinness/emptiness in order to double those quantities.

So what units do you measure coldness/shortness/thinness/emptiness in? eh? eh?

So you measure coldness in °C, right?
And a bit cold is 2°C you say.
So twice as cold "as a bit cold" is 4°C.

No no no. Twice two is four; I've just checked with the Royal Academy and it hasn't changed.
If you don't want twice 2° to be 4° then you'll have to find some different units to measure cold in.

In any case 2°C is 275 Kelvin (the real datum for temperatures), so twice 2°C would be 550 Kelvin or 277°C wouldn't it. You know it makes sense.
