Thought Clark and Brown did really well today. NEither looked out of place agaisnt a Premiership side. Robson did quite well as much as it pains me to say it. Humphreys totally tortured by an impressive Milner all game and no idea where he was for their first. Wasnt impressed with Jones, kept giving the ball away time and time again, something which he apparently never does?? Anyway he was once on Man Us books so will still be an amazing player  Fatty Power didnt have chance to do much but put a very good cross in.

Enjoyable game. Milner and Duff looked very good for them.

Lee Barret. Looked good on crosses but felt he should have saved at least 1 goal.

Thanks Mr Hamster. I'm not sure that ALB is the answer to our keeping problems - too inconsistant amd prone to errors along with some good keeping at times.

as usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

i was impressed by jones, but he gave away the ball in the build-up to the equaliser.

power had precisely three touches, one superb cross, a crunching tackle on alan smith and a superb pass to sweeney wide on the right.

their fans were a bunch of twats, but is suppose they're not used to winning much. they'll probably produce a trophy to commemorate beating a team two leagues below them with a team of internationals.

I may have been mistaken but I though he was 'ok' although I did feel he was guilty of losing the ball a fair few times including costing us at least one goal. To say he NEVER lost the ball is crazy, he certainly did. Also there was no way in this world that he was our best player. Robson, Brown, Clark all played better.

Matty Robson impressed me to be honest. When he attacks he is decent. Unfortunately Wilson swapped him and Humphries around at half time hence we created nothing in the second half. Humphries and foley dont offer anything whatsoever, I dont care what the Ritchie lovers say

agreed Jones was average, passing was a bit off but looks like he will be a good player. Was impressed with Power too.

Exactly the response i expected from some. Those sat there thinking "he is from man u and looks the part so he will be class and il reckon he has had a great game no matter what he does"

Exactly the reason i counted how many times he gave it away as I kept hearing "he never gives the ball away". 8 times he gave it away sloppily when he had the ball under control, once leading to a goal. But hey he is from man U so lets say he never lost it once!!!

Yeah and I know im sad for counting but I could see these kind of replies but the match even started. Apart from the poor passing his control and space awareness seemed great.

I thought that Jones did quite well, he never shirked away from the ball and if he did give it away he didn't drop his head, he always seemed to be available for the pass and was looking for it all of the time. I think he also seemed to bring the good side out of Liddle that we haven't seen for a while.

Ben Clark was our best defender for us by far and Matty Robson seems to have been working on his crosses over the summer and looked quite dangerous going forward, but our man of the match was James Brown by a long way but the only thing that I could say against him was that sometimes he didn't back himself enough to try and beat his man.

Overall it was a canny enough game to watch with Pools being the better team in the first half and we passed the ball about well in periods, but 2 goals in 2 minutes early on in the second half effecitively ended the game as a contest. For the bar codes only Duff, Butt, Taylor seemed to be Premiership type players

On the other hand you can go totally the opposite way and try and find every negative point, whilst dismissing any positive points out of hand - then you are no better than those you have criticised are.

Tree is pretty much spot on.

Jones was ok but did defintley gave the ball away quite cheaply and he paid the price.

Matty Robson was good and I have a feeling he might have a good season, fingers crossed.

Clark and Collins were ok but the whole defence seemed to crumble in the second half.

McCunnie struggled at right back.

Brown and Porter must start up front against Colchester, give them a chance to get a partnership going.

ALB was ok but didn't have an awful lot to do considering he let 4 goals in.

As for the Newcastle fans, that was the most uncomfortable match of my life. Heering cheers from tossers meters away from you when we conceded a goal and hearing sniggering remarks about us really did make my blood boil. I've never liked, nor did I like the Newcastle fan who said 4-1 to all the Pools fans he could see at the station, he must be very clever. I also didn't comments about our lack of chanting, it's a bit hard to get a chant going when your surrounded by bar codes.

But what really got me going was the Newcastle fan who chucked a whole containers of chips down the steps in the town end. Your in the wrong end, you haven't been battered unlike you would have at other away grounds so at show some fooking respect. A waste of food and littering our ground. banghead banghead banghead

I hate them, I can't understand a word they say. They really do my nut in. Absolute tossers the lot of them and their thick as well. rage
