If I am a named driver on my dad's insurance when i have a provisional lisence, does anyone know what I need to do when I pass my test and get full lisence?
Can I drive the car on the day I pass my test?
Please help, test tomorrow.

I would assume that you'd be ok as a full licence is superior to a provisional one.

However it would probably be best to give them a ring today and check just to be sure.

Thats what I thought.
Dad seems to think it will be different because I will be in car on my own

Why tempt fate, just make sure you pass your test first, there's no rush to sort the insurance out.

Dad might just be thinking of excuses not to let you loose in his car. rolfl

I'm sure you have to inform them as it invalidates your premium if your details change. Premiums usually go up when you pass your test too, I've been looking at quotes for myself recently as I am learning and found it to be £2-300 cheaper with the provisional than if I had passed

I was in the same situation when I passed. Once you pass you need to call the insurance and notify them ASAP. Then you are available to drive as a named driver without your father. However, your fathers premium will go up slightly.
