I was in work today when I heard something similar to the following on the 9:30am news report...

"News from Teesside that 50 staff have walked out over mistreatment at the hands of pupils..."

(Teesside... so I thought it must be Boro or something)

"All have gone on strike after teachers at High Tunstall College of Science in Hartlepool after being subjected to cyber-bullying by students"

WTF

Can anyone explain this to me further?!

I thought they were striking over working conditions?

'Cyber bullying' the teachers!?

It says something about the youth of today when they haven't even got the get up and go to torture a teacher to his/her face.

Seriously a teacher friend (who's worked at Tunny) said it was a protest against the head. Are the stories not getting confused with the one of the bloke who killed himself after he was suspended for computer miss use? Possibly not but the place has been all over for a while now.

Sad really because when I was at school Tunstall was always regarded as a good school.

Same here, but the new head when I was there - the one before the German woman - caused LOADS of the teachers to leave the year I did (2002). Most of them went to Manor.

Now it's just changed so much, it'll be kicking its heels with St Hild's after Brierton finally goes down the pan.

I'm still wondering just what that teacher did to cause himself to commit suicide - I know everyone immediately assumed it was child porn related but they seemed to stress that it was anything but. Gambling?

He had a memory stick containing photos of pupils from his previous school, that is all. The crank head suspended him. He lost shape over it and ended up topping himself.

I heard it was perfectly innocent, but mud sticks in these cases unfortunately and that's what was probably going through the poor blokes head.
