Crewe's hopes of signing Livingston winger Rob Snodgrass appear to be fading.

But they plan to hone in on several alternative midfield targets after their return from their Bulgarian training camp later this week.

The Scottish under-21 international has told Livingston's new regime he is heading to England despite the carrot of a new three-year deal.

While Snodgrass, aged 20, claims he has had four or five offers from English clubs, Leyton Orient appear to be in poll position to sign him.

"The winger we had targeted is still possible, but our hopes of getting him are not as good now. However, Joel Grant has settled in well already and we have Byron Moore to play out wide as well," pointed out Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker.

"We have got other things in the pipeline which we will work on when we get back from Bulgaria. We've inquired about midfield players, but that is as far as it has gone."
