Anyone else on here feel embarrassed by the opposition for the clubs centenary tournament, do people think it will be a success? . I cant see more than 3000 attending our games and in the hundreds for Hamilton v Huddersfield.

PS. Hamilton are at Billingham on the 26th as well, wouldnt surprise me if they sent their first team there and put the reserves out against us, it would be typical pools luck. Also how come the mags are playing at Donny on the 26th ? why couldnt they play us?

Noticed Swindon are touring Austria and playing Steaua Bucharest and Fenerbache, and they are supposed to be skint. Our director of everything and anything said it was difficult getting top class opposition pre season, Ummmh!!! funny how others seem to manage it though.

What the hell is the point of wasting money going to Austria?

Pre-season opposition means jack shite, it's about fitness and fitness only, that is achieved on the training pitch, not on the plane to Austria.

Yes indeed, and I doubt that even if you add all four attendances together it will come to 3000...

ptbap - So I suppose all the teams who go abroad are going to struggle this season then? Pools pre season preperations are pants , just like our signing of players , we get to play who is left. As we wont be jet lagged I look forward to us running away with the league.

No they won't all struggle, but they also won't do any better because they've had a pre-season tour abroad.

You mentioned swindon and being skint, it's no fecking suprise when they waste money on things like pointless trips abroad. I'd rather my club spent money on things that mattered, like wages of decent players and keeping the club out of administration.

Without wanting to sound patronising, if it's your centenary tournament you should get a good crowd anyway. If we were in a similar situation, I'd turn up to see us play Thornaby Youth Club reserves. It's about a celebration, something to enjoy.
