They reckon all of the public support them.

Wonder if the public would be so keen if they all realised that the hauliers are after a 'rebate' not a reduction. So in other words - I'm alright jack.

Murdering twats.

For the past few years they always start threatening action about April, blockades etc. ...and it always fooks my holiday up beacuse you don't know what to expect. Now what puzzles me, is when it was 30p a liter cheaper they were all on the edge of ruin then...just as an afterthought, if oil drops drastically, will their prices drop?...Bang it on the railways or ship it round the coast.

Because whenever theres a abduction and subsequent murder in this country its invariably carried out by a truck driver.

Even Viz had a comic strip about it.

Quote:
Laurie Driver
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Laurie Driver is a fictional character who occasionally appears in the cult comic, Viz. Most strips revolve around him murdering hitchikers and unsafe (and illegal) working practices, which this strip satirises.

In one strip, he is stopped by a police motorcyclist who tells him he's shedding his load. The police officer inspects his tachograph, telling him he's doing too many murders and tells him to rest at some point. While this parodies unsafe working practices, it's also a satirical reference to Peter Sutcliffe. This is framed in a preceding scene where he goes to a diesel mechanic to get an engine misfiring fixed, saying:

"It sounds like sounds like God saying, "Bell ringing" over and over again."

After this is fixed, he thanks him:

"Kill Women. Cheers."

Further shorter strips have used this as a premise for their humour. The murders aren't shown, but are humorously alluded to in one story where Laurie works as a driving instructor. He tells the trainee to use the clutch and throttle, only for the penny to drop when he tells him to "wrap her in a carpet and dump her in a layby." This suggests that killing women is a mandatory activity for all Lorry Drivers.

They tend to charge the same price for transportation of goods, but have an additional fuel surcharge which is a percentage and goes up or down depending on the fuel prices.

The haulage industry has been the architect of its own downfall. For the past 20 years they've been cutting each others throat undercutting each other on a daily basis.

As for the fuel surcharge, some do some don't. Those that work for large companies such as supermarkets cannot usually change their pricing otherwise they get sacked. And guess what, there's always another of these self styled 'knights of the road' ready to jump in at a cheaper rate.

If only we had an efficient transport infrastructure eh? The Tories de-nationalised the railways and the buses in favour of profiteering, private companies and "Labour" have done nothing to reverse the situation in all the time they have been in power.

Now we have a third world rail system charging extortionate prices for an unreliable service and the same can be said of the buses in Hartlepool (see last nights Mail). Never mind though our MP will be straight on to it rolf
