What a result ! Still rubbing our eyes in delight as Morton's is the closest football ground to our Hotel. Makes a change from 5.30am starts for home games.

Just a bit of blatant advertising. The Hotel is a 45 min drive and 20 min ferry trip from the Ground. If anyone is thinking of making a short break of both the Morton and Falkirk games then its in the perfect location to stopover before the 1.5 hour drive to Stirling on the Thurs.

I know our prices are fooking expensive (from £48pppn for B&B to £58pppn B&B) and our pints are £2.80 but we're dead fooking posh us like.

Sybil has allowed me to make the following offer to any genuine Poolies. Rooms £25ppn (B&B) and beer £2. Tell the locals and we're well fooked. In order to qualify for this a Pools related security question will be asked. We've only got 9 rooms so don't all rush. Also its very kid friendly.

Mods: Hope this is ok to post this. It's commercial suicide to offer these prices at this time of year so I hope the spirit with which its intended is obvious......just want to talk to Poolies and the wife won't let me go lower.....!!

PS This offer is not available on Rivals......

PPS If anyone's interested send us a PM.

PPPS This egg looks like you laid it...

Thank you for your help and kind words. No takers yet but keeping fingers crossed. Only football fan we get in the bar is Darlo born and bred. Have to say that his cross is born with dignity and no little humour and I would almost describe him as a "friend"

PS Lush clappp The Hotel's nice as well.

Just follow our car back after the game....No way we won't be there even if the Queen was here on a midweek special....

Last ferry 22.30. Ground 15mins max from ferry.

Still watching "Goalden goals..!!"

I'll put the idea to Mrs Bresslaw, according to my fat nav it should take around 3.5 hrs from the Pool. It sounds promising and might be 2 nights if I get an afternoon of work

It's a dead smart offer that and no mistake. clappp clappp

Regrettably the 2 grand air fares for me and our rass will put more of a dampener on it than Cornelius on a rubber sheet.

Genuine question though, and only asked out of curiosity, not malice, why is it that British hoteliers charge 'pppn' and the rest of the world says 'per room??' sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Good Question that. If you asked yourself "why did I post that chair picture?" your answer would probably be the same as mine ie I haven't a fooking clue

In our case, when we took over the Hotel all of the reservation/billing software modules had been programmed on a pppn basis and we didn't know how to change it. We had no prior Hotel experience so just left it as it is. Would like to know how it started.....and will try and find out. Sad.

Rumour has it mind, that a Mrs P Scroggins of the Hollyoaks B&B in Skegness first offered it to a pair of Darlo fans in 1973 who'd got lost on their way to Carlisle and who were delighted to receive their special half price offer .

Isn't it because when you're given a rate per night, it usually doesn't include breakfast?
With B&b rates, if there are 2 people in the room , they get 2 breakfasts, if only one , only one ......

Is this clear, or should one explain further? confised

Your logic, Spock, is irrefutable....
Seriously, Grabec, is there anything about anything in this world that you don't know ?
We've wondered about this for ages. It's all a bit of a mess really and "usually" is the important word as some Hotels now quote for room and breakfast packages. Anything to confuse the punter and escape with charging more....

PS Norman Lamont is coming in September and he's the only person we would consider doing the above to in an attempt to recover some of the money he relieved us of in the early 90's

Four times an hour when he sees our place. Fortunately, it's whitewashed stone. :uhoh:

Hello, i'm a Morton fan an i've just came back from the game.

I have however heard that there was a spot of violence afterwards and i was wondering if anyone has heard anything.Apparently behind the goal on the enbankment at the car park their were fans of our rivals sititng (signing songs about the Paisley Panda and wearing a "midden" top). After the game their was apparently a confrontation between these people and Hartlepool fans? According to others Hartlepool fans had been standing in a flat doorway shouting abuse and bareing bottles.

Anybody heard anything down your way?

The lastest is that apparently:

There was some banter between fans after the game. A few Morton fans caused a bit of a scene about it and an older Hartlepool fan through somebody to the ground before getting on a mini bus. Objects were thrown at the minibus and apparently the door was ripped off before Hartepool fans got back out of the bus bareing poles and bottles?

I'm only informing you of what i'm hearing. Not making any accusations.
