Did you pay it? With 9 people in the van I'd have been tempted to tell them to go fuck themselves!

Maybe someone in the group was late to the pick up point and the meter may of been alreading ticking over. If the meter wasn't in view then and no price was agreed before the journey then I know who the daft ones are......

Hartlepool Radio Taxis charge £21 from Victoria Park to Darlington train station. I think that's quite reasonable.

Them taxis outside the train station at Leeds once quoted me £68 (yes sixty-eight) for Leeds train station to Donny when the trains stopped running due to signal problems... I didn't go.

i think the point here is that there were 9 of you
so it was more than a taxi ride
it would have taken 3 taxis to get all of you to wynyard
basically you have hired a mini bus and paid the rate for this.

i cant believe i am siding with a fooking taxi firm :uhoh:

Royal taxis are a bunch of bounders. I wish they would p*ss off back to boro where they belong. If you use that company you deserve everything you get. They are the scum of the earth and a bunch of money grabbing cowboys.

Some fat asian bloke was driving one the other day and pulled straight out infront of me. If I had not hade my wits about me I would have gone straight into the back of him and it would have been my fault legally.

If I see him again im going to string him to the back of my car and pull the bounder all the way back to boro. rage

(ps allegedly)

they'd have had to call the police for me if they asked me for that much for such a short journey. They are in breach of the local asuthority pricing structure if that was the case

Cabbie last night said ( and cabbies don't lie...do they?) said he heard of a fare from Tennyson ave to the Belle Vue club charged at £8:00. He also said that they (other taxi drivers) are up in arms over this firm but the poilce and local authority have told them to keep away. sctatchinghead

He also alleged that a normal £6:00 fare from the fens to the headland was charged at £20:00 and when the old lady only had her 6 quid ready, drove her to a mini bank where another taxi was waiting and made her take the cash out of a machine. This story I have also heard from the son of the lady in question !

Bang out of order really refred refred

they CAN'T charge more than the local borough's pricing structure if the entire journey falls within that borough, i.e. Hartlepool.
I've just gone past a Royal Taxi outside the Navy Club, with a Wear Valley taxi plate on the back??? sctatchinghead

I think that there is a difference between private hire (who dont have to display their fares) and hackneys who do have to display. If you get a quote over the phone they have to honour it otherwise they'll probably try and take your bollocks out like they are.

Don't use 'em - they've ruined what little of a good name Stripe had
