I know we like knocking England, often justifiably so, but the French take things to the other extreme. Just like in the 2002 World Cup, the French are blaming anything and everything for their dismal showing. Everything, that is, apart from themselves. They believe they are still morally the best team in the world, just waiting for the breaks and the future generation of world beaters to come through. A bit like England in the 70s when you think about it.

The only reason that hasn't been put forward for their elimination is the real one: they were just plain lousy.

Should we talk our country up more, like the Frogs, or is it better to be realistic, even possibly overcritical?

P.S. this is in the national context but at club level it seems to be pretty much the same thing unless you're a Chelsenal United supporter.

They still miss Zidane, he pretty much got them to the final on his own in 2006.

Anyone else think Henry looked past it?

Very heavy legged, bit like Shevshenko, I think he's past it now

When you have to rely on people like Lilian Thuram (who said his head wasn't right and didn't want to play last night) and Nicolas (heart the size of a pea) Anelka you are onto a loser straight away violin

I just think he's nothing close to the player he was at Arsenal.

Then again he's always looked a bit suspect at international level.

At least their team didn't cry when they lost out. That's a big plus, these days
