Got the Does It Offend You, Yeah? album a few weeks ago - not bad at all. I was wondering about the Pendulum one, not heard of their stuff before - but the albums had decent reviews.

Downloaded the new Paul Weller album last night, as well as Joan As Police Woman.

Others downloaded that spring to mind are Hot Chip, The Black Keys, Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, Elbow and Martha Wainwright...

Currently downloading Andy C - NightLife 4, to add to the Drum 'n Bass/Jungle stuff

Caught a glimpse of them at Evolution in Gateshead last week - not bad, the wind rather spoiled the sound. Imagine indoors they'd be good to see.

I'll have to check Pendulums stuff out tonight - cheers for the heads up

Not yet - they were 'recommended' by Amazon when I checked out the Paul Weller tracklist last night.

Sound like 1967 in a good way?

I couldn't decide whether I loved The Black Kids or hated them, but it's one of the few performances I've watched the entire way through (and one of the few times I've actually watched that bounder Ross).

Only things I think I've got recently that I've actually liked is In Rainbows by Radiohead and Flight of the Conchords' self-titled album. I tend to just rediscover music or listen to the rest of an album I never got chance to with about 5 years ago (like A Crow Left of the Murder... by Incubus and Songs for Polar Bears by Snow Patrol).

That's because modern music is samey bollocks.

Why? - Alopecia
Silver Jews - Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea
Four Tet - Ringer
M83 - Saturday = Youth
Clinic - Do It!
Bonnie Prince Billy - Lie Down in the Light
Destroyer - Trouble In Dreams

Fleet Foxes are decent, some nice stuff on it. Tindersticks new one is great. I need to take a listen to the new Silver Mt. Zion. I'm disappointed by the new Spiritualized and British Sea Power album's.

GingerPoolie - modern music isn't samey bollocks if you actually take the time to dig into some of the more obscure stuff coming out. You have nothing to back up such a sweeping statement with.

I reckon in about 20 years kolly we will be saying the same thing.

That music you kids listen to is rubbish, bring back them Arctic Monkeys etc etc.

anything is better than the rubbish thats on in bar one though eh? If it wasn't for the pound drinks i wouldnt go anywhere near it...

You're probably right - my granda once told me nothing good was made musically after the 1950's. It's all swings and roundabouts. I'm open minded enough to realise that music in 20 years time is probably going to be no different in the grand scheme of things than it is today. I'd like to think that when I'm 40 odd I'm still going to gigs and searching out new music.

Bar One though, you have to be drunk before you go in, never mind getting drunk on the £1 Vodka Red Bull's! The pretty girls make it easier as well.

i was out in boro on Saturday kolly and I'll tell you what the lasses in bar one are ten times better, granted there wearing nothing, are wrecked on a drink and drugs combo, have 4 kids, live in a council house...

But there bloody good too look at

Modern music is only samey rubbish if you listen to Radio 1 or read NME.

Went to see The Courteeners a month or so ago - hyped to the sky by NME, fairly average in truth, yet very popular. Saw Sons & Daughters last week - less than 100 in the place, but fantastic band. Go figure...

I'll keep searching out new music, whatever style. Cannot see it changing when I get to 40 (7 years & counting)

Look forward to the new Sparks album...

Why do 80% of groups that play the pub circuit play old songs?
I think the answer is that's what most people want, though personally I can't take much more of Hey Joe, I Love Rock and Roll, or Zombies (yes even that's getting old now).

There was a group of 18 year olds playing at the local last Saturday whose repertoire was like a breath of fresh air, even if they did manage to squeeze an Elvis Pelvis medley in at one stage.

It's the truth.

And when you get past 30, and they STILL don't give a fook, then it's time to bail out and hit the Wedding/Clubs/Covers circuit where you are appreciated.

I don't know. It's pretty rotten being hard up. But you shouldn't give up something of value that you're really good at, just because most people don't appreciate it?

New album by My Morning Jacket on its way soon - their last album Z was fantastic, and their live album was also well worth a listen

That all went 'whooze' straight over my head, apart from Neil Diamond. What did you think about it. I've heard 'Pretty Amazing Grace', but nothing else.

Just bought 12 songs for £3 in the Fopp sale - bargain. Love a good Neil Diamond greatest hits package as well. Cracking song writer! I read that the new Spiritualized is their best since Ladies and Gentleman . . . . is this true?

I only listen to stuff through friends, games and fillums. I've abandoned music radio because of samey bollocks - you have to admit that to the consumer who doesn't have the time to look up bands, it's a ballache trying to find the diamond among the rough. And, to be fair, there hasn't been any music that's appealed to me because my favourite music styles have been and gone, some of them at least 15 years ago...

I would agree that 'A&E' is Spiritualizeds best work since 'Floating in Space' (even though Im the strange character whose favourites are Let it Come Down & Amazing Grace)

Try and download 'puzzle' its there latest effort, little more commercial as they've moved onto a bigger label and had more backing and pr than ever before.

First album blackend sky has some real anthems, such as 57, just boy and 27.

Here is the full album list...
