Not a massive ratio difference really is there!!!

What are the percentages supposed to represent though? In my simple maths, the annual number of crimes works out at 129 per 1000 population for Hartlepool, and 199 per 1000 for Hull. Thats not a 3% difference, by any calculation.

All I did was get the first quarters crime and divide it by the population..... nothing major dude.

But that doesn't give you the numbers you came up with. What you would have is 1 crime for each 28.5 head of population in Hartlepool, and 1 crime for every 20.1 head of population in Hull.

Not that I'm being pedantic, or anything like. rolfl

Thats your decision, but they aren't filled to the rafts whit shitehawks, bagheads, skagmiesters, broken glass, dogshite, rubbish strewn everywhere, I like Hartlepool because my family and friends live there and Hartlepool United, I can take or leave the rest of it

No but visitors do, if Hartlepool ever wants to be taken seriously as a tourist attraction it needs more then the winky-wanky shopping centre and a few piss poor hotels

If we are getting a new swimming pool complex will it actually have a proper swimming pool in it or will it just be like a big water playground?

It'll be a piss-take if there is nowhere in it where you can actually swim though.

Agreed so you put a proper pool alongside the gay water park thingy

Hopefully.

But knowing the past history of our Labour councillors then I have my doubts.

I don't think Hartlepool is bad at all. I've been drinking all over England and trouble occurs everywhere. There was an incident at Nexus, and... do you people not read other region newspapers? It happens all over the country and possibly allover the world. Its just something which happens.

Problem with Hartlepool is the fact its cheap, so you can spend good amounts and get a hell of a lot for it.

I was thinking in terms of lifestyle, tho, not of where I'd like to go on holiday or to sight-see.
And I didn't ever say I would go back to live in Hartlepool, just that I wouldn't go to the opposite extreme of choosing a 'nice' town to live in. As you say, each to his taste

Ah well, you see, Paddy Robson has got a common syndrome going on, in that he's newly domiciled in another place and it's temporary Nirvana. Fatty on the other hand is living with the iniquities of remaining firmly entrenched at home in Hartlepool.

I railed a bit about, well a lot, about Britain when I first moved. I still read the papers and tell myself how lucky I am but if push came to shove and I had to come back I'd come back to Hartlepool. Why?? Well the chances are that I'd see a dozen friendly faces, hopefully not bottle scarred on a Saturday in town, I'd know where to find mates for the odd pint, and well, just the familiarity. I left the Pool when I was sixteen but the pull is always there, it's just home and there's nothing better.

The Pool is no better or no worse than anywhere else in Britain, I know, I lived somewhere else for 20 years and it was just the same.

The shit in your backyard is more tolerable when you've got mates about to discuss it with.

It's not about Hull v Hartlepool, it's the bigger picture. Both represent the state of the UK today to a greater or lesser extent. The whole thing is going to hell in a handcart. Which in itself is a crime.

Aye, the pull is always there. But, whatever you think, you've probably been away too long to slip back into the old ways.
Besides, there's always the reason you left in the first place, which is probably something to do with you rather than the town

I didn't mean that sort of reason
I meant the sort of reason everyone who left had, and which they would probably get again if they went 'home'.

A bike crashing is an accident.
A bottle to the face must be an accident?

Ive yet to see a fight while ive been out, not even seen a bloody nose while being out, out in hartlepool a few weeks back with a few lads i went to school with and the 1st fooking place we went in there was a fight! The 2nd was ok, the 3rd there was another fight and the rest i lost total interest and got plastered to block it out!

I liked coming back HOME and go out with the lads but its seemingly changed a lot in the past few months?! i dont like that!

I detest going down the town. It doesn't hold even the most remote attraction for me.

You've got one of three choices really. You can drink with chavs who will want a scrap the second you glance in their direction, you can be accosted repeatedly by desperate old hags, or you can allow yourself to feel like a rampant paedophile by standing around whilst 14 year old girls grind on each other to the latest Usher track.

I'm 23 for fecks sake, I shouldn't feel this old when I go out, and whinge this much at the state of society.

Nine times out of ten, if I fancy a drink, I'll just nip down The Mowbray (aka The Warrior) because my kind of people drink there too. It's a community place as much as a drinking den, full of familiar faces and a bit of harmless working-class banter.

But even that is turning to crap now. The prices keep creeping up, and with the lack of money around these days people are just stopping in with a six-pack. It's a damn sight cheaper.

So even that is dying a death.

If the local estate pubs start to close down and all we are left with is Church Street (never has a street been in such tragic need of an ironic name change) then perhaps we may as well all just give up and get bladdered in our living rooms...

I had a knife pulled on me when I was out a few months back - I don't really intend being stabbed to death while I'm having a drink with some mates. It's bloody pathetic frankly...

Yeah, because every bike rider in Hull rides on the pavement.

Where I live, every bike, motorbike, scooter and electric bike DOES ride on the pavement and guess what?? No one gives a shite. They ride on the wrong side of the road, do unexpected u turns, the joiner has the right of way, pedestrian crossings are a big game of Grandmas Footsteps, even on the main roads although not the motorways and some how it all works.

We've got cameras and traffic police and all the bollocks but they're there to make it work not just collect money. If you act the arsehole they impound your vehicle, give you a ticket and you can have your vehicle back when you turn up with a bank receipt. No sneaking round the corners with a hoist truck or owt.

Maybe they aren't so far up the health and safety arsehole that they can see daylight??

Hartlepool is still the best town in the world though. So shurrup.
