For anyone like me that's a bit of an anorak when it comes to football grounds, you will love seeing these clips of a selection of grounds that were shot between 1979 and 1981.

I went to The Old Show Ground, Scunny during my first season watching pools regularly but am gutted I never got to Somerton Park, Newport, Sealand Road, Chester and Fellows Park, Walsall. Am I alone here?

Anyway, I don't know how to do the link thingy but enjoy!

I realise that grounds had to be improved but away trips were and still are far more interesting IMO when the ground you are visiting are unique/a little unusual. Donny and Darlo for example, okay Belle Vue and Feethams weren't the best of grounds but the new flat back grounds are soulness and just plain plastic. To think they replaced Gay Meadow with 4 stands that I could have probably put up overnight............okay I may be a bit sad but you know where I am coming from.

it puts the ice on the caking for me when I've not only visited long-gone grounds, but also seen Pools claim victory there!!!A lot of grounds have changed beyond recognition so I'm including them - they are practically new but built on the old site

The Other Victoria Ground
Joker Park
Defeathams
Vetch Field
Belle Vue
Seamer Road
Boothferry Park
Old Dean Court before rebuild
Old Craven Cottage before rebuild/refit
Runcorn
Halifax before rebuild (with the old speedway track )
Deepdale
Home Park before rebuild
Layer Road
Leeds Road
Brisbane Road before rebuild
Prenton Park before rebuild
Gay Meadow
Valley Parade before rebuild
Burnden Park
Elm Park
Spotland before rebuild
Chorley

Grounds where Pools got a draw while I was there

County Ground Northampton
Lincoln before rebuild
Sealand Road
Twerton Park
Springfield Park

Grounds where I only saw Pools lose

Bloomfield Road before rebuild
Turf Moor before rebuild
Old Show Ground
Baseball Ground
St Andrews before rebuild
Highbury
White Hart Lane before rebuild
Gresty Road before rebuild
Gigg Lane before rebuild
Goldstone Ground

There's bound to be more!!

I never went to Fellowes Park, Manor Ground, Maine Road, Filbert Street, The Dell, Eastville,Highfield Road, any other newly refurbished Premier laeague/championship ground where Pools haven't played in the past 35 years

Fellows Park was mint, and the open-air toilets a joy to behold!

Descending the steps into the slippery black void was worth the entrance fee alone!

parmo- I remember the draw at the County Ground, Northampton. Cold Tuesday night and there were about 25 in the away end!

I'm sure they equalised in the last minute and vaguely remember the odd swear word popping out of your mouth as their goal went in.

Anyone who'd travel 400+ miles on a Tuesday night to watch the likes of Sloan, Oliver, Lynch and Ingram is missing something upstairs however!!

I've done quite a lot of the old grounds, but here is one I've been to..... to see Pools in a league game which was not very far away.
How about Gateshead at Redheugh park.

aye Gillingham's ground is another one which has changed beyond recognition these days. Was that the 0-0 draw, Brian Honour's last league match for Pools I think?

they'd only just survived relegation to the Conference, and they were piss poor that season as well, that game should have told us what we were in for!!! At least we did the double on Darlo!!! Our only two away wins were Darlo and Carlisle, and Carlisle won the league!!!

Yup, but I think Honour played after that?

It was certainly Paul Sweeney's one and only game for Pools, and Keith Oliver got sent off.

Paul Baker hit the post for Gillingham.

Nil-Nil draw.

Didn't Monty spend a lot of time stood on the dugout roof for some strange reason???

are aldershot still playing at the same ground ? i see they are back in the league.

i saw pools play at workington but not southport.

another that sticks out was maidstone, which wasnt even in maidstone.i cant even remember which town it was in but it was in the middle of nowhere about a 3 mile uphill walk from the train station.

it was basically a northern league ground and they were a non league outfit that had somehow bluffed their way into the league.

dont think they even exist anymore.

Wasn't it Dartford where Maidstone played their home matches

A right fooking shite hole and no mistake!

Yes it was at Dartford and it may have been a shiite hole but our only 2 games played there do have some significance 1. the first game we lost 4-2 was Cyril Knowles managerial debut for pools and the second game was a 4-1 win (Brian Honour scoring 2 crackers) during the 90/91 promotion season. Do correct me if i'm wrong Mr Mad? The ground is no longer however, sold for redevelopment I think. Well Dartford certainly moved into a new ground last season/the year before.

Aldershot do still play at the same ground and i'm delighted to say that the ground hasn't changed at all ie. still open at one end. One of my favourite grounds that is still standing! what an anorak I am

The Azteca Twerton. Wasn't that where you got 'interviewed' by some fella in a tux before the game, Parmo?

aye - the delay was weird though. I could hear what I'd just said, so I couldn't concentrate on what I was saying "live"!!!!
Everyone else had got out of the bloke's way, but I was too busy eating a pie to realise I was stood next to the interviewer!! Apparently they did that every home game to an away fan!!!

I was at that 3-2 one, how the fuck did we lose that? They were awful, yet we still lost!! That MacDonald never scored a goal like that in his life, which is annoying. Why does that happen to Pools?
