No competition, go for the Mondeo, especially in the Titanium option.

The new Mondeo is a seriously good car and a different level to the rest of your options.

With the price of fuel as high as it is (and getting higher) I'd make fuel consumption the primary consideration

How many have driven the latest version of the Mondeo? They're every bit as good as the likes of the Audi A4 and arguably C class Merc standard other than badge snobbery. Go to the nearest Ford dealer and for a test drive

Get the Mondeo. Its the best car there.

If you want toys then nip round to Halfrauds and buy a sat nav and cd changer etc

To be honest, factory fitted Sat Nav isn't a patch on a Tom Tom or similar. Besides, if you lose or scratch the CD you're going to get a £400 bill.

I had a similar option and after test driving them the Mondeo was far superior.

It also has excellent suspension

Has to be the Mondeo IMHO. And it has all the bells and whistles you could ever want in the Titanium range.

I saw a new Jag today, and to be honest it looks exactly like a Mondeo, same angled boot and everything.

I'm not surprised Jags have lost their cred (no offence to Mondeos intended like but there's a big difference in price between the two).

I concur.

For a Ford they're not bad cars.

And certainly beat the cack out of a Vauxhall.

Besides which, the Vectra is being replaced in a month or so and you'll be out of date before you even start.

Toyota make canny motors too like.

A bloke at work just got a nice blue Jaguar XF as his company car, its bloody good like. Its not similar to a mondeo like....
Much more sleak, as you would expect from a Jaguar. Its in a really nice dark blue with silver trims and badges. looks good like.

Get a Jag instead!

Jags are ok, but not as good as the Nazi mobiles- Audi, BMW, Mercedes.

But don't buy one new unless you enjoy depreciation.

Buy an X type one today for 24k and run it for 12 months, you will lose half of that money.

Not as bad as the car mentioned above, the XF. List price for a fairly standard model is 33k, 12 months RV is 25.

I wouldn't buy a brand new car of any description cos depreciation is crazy.

You lose much less buying one a couple of years old and get much more for your money.

Lets test that theory shall we..... CAP the dealers bible tells me this:

Rolls Royce Phantom Saloon

Buy today: £258'471
Mileage 12000 per annum

Sell in 12 months £182'550
Sell in 24 months £155'825
Sell in 36 months £131'750

So depreciations is:

12 months = £ 75921
24 months = £102646
36 months = £126'721

Just to get really anorakish. cost per mile, excluding maintenance is:

12 months £6.32
24 months £4.27
36 months £3.52

So just for Dibble's benefit, what would be the depreciation like if he took the car allowance and bought himself a new Smart car?

Smart Car:

I haven't included any info on maintenance but you need to consider the extra wear on suspension and of course brakes would need pads replacing more often carry that weight. Anyway...........

Based on 12000 miles pa.
New Price £6810

12 months £5600
24 months £4525
36 months £3650
