Are you looking for good ale or daft names. I've just had three pints of Timothy Taylors Landlord at the Prospect in Weston Village which was excellent.

Aso recently had a pint of some brewery's Legover which gave me the opportunity to ask Sue the horse riding barmaid for a Legover and a half. Not a bad pint.

Glad she didnt take me up on the legover bit though. Fearsome woman with big thighs and a doubtful temperament is Sue.

Quite a dark ale was my recent pint of Barnstormer, a bit like a dry stout. Very acceptable.

If you're talking stouts, the best one I've had the pleasure of is Dark Star Cappucino Stout. It's actually brewed with coffee beans and its lush. Strange really, as I don't drink coffee.

Here are some other good 'uns you can get in a bottle:

Hook Norton Double Stout
Orkney Dragonhead
Titanic Stout
O'Hanlons Ruby Port Stout
Cairngorm Black Gold

It's getting to the end of stout season for me, and I'm trying different IPA's at the moment. My favourite of all time is Deuchars, but I tried Orkney Northern Light the other day and it was lush.

Possibly one of my favourite brewerys, they have a fair few lovely beers like Fiddlers Elbow, Circlemaster, Wychcraft and Hobgoblin

I worked behind the bar at a music festival over the weekend (move over Mr. Parmo). Festival Ale, brewed a few miles from the festival at Green Tye (Hertfordshire) proved extremely popular.

No, but there aren't two Sues with big thighs etc are there.

Remind me where the Jackson's Arms is.

Not too mention Green Goblin cider which is possibly the best British cider I've tasted ... though a bit strong!

I go through too many bottles of Green Goblin every weekend.

And in this weather through the week too.

Totally lush.

Abbot Ale is probably the main reason I enjoyed my 3 years in East Anglia in the 70's.

Used to be brewed in Biggleswade when I lived in Bedford. At the time Greene King was the favorite brew around there and Charles Wells Bedford ales were referred to as Charly Wells' urine. Its improved though and Bombadier is a good pint

We got a Luton supporter pissed on that Old Empire before. It was a few years ago now and our game had been called off at around 2 o clockish so we decided to make an afternoon of it and headed off the The Bank to watch some football on the telly. We bumped into this supporter who had travelled up by himself for the match but his train didn't leave Newcastle until around half 6 ish, so we took him to the Causeway where they had Old Empire as one of their guest beers so he got stuck into that, he was in a right state when we bundled him into a taxi to take him to the train station
