I hate speed cameras, especially where they are blatantly sited to raise money as opposed to for safety purposes.

BUT why, with the exception of Greatham, do we not have more red light cameras on the traffic lights in town?

Every day I drive to work down Park Road and every day without fail AT LEAST 1 car at either Park Road / York Road junction or Park Road / Stockton Street junction goes through a red light. Usually several each day just on my journey. Surely this is more dangerous than going 33mph in a 30 zone?

Anybody else witness such blatant disregard for traffic lights and think that there should be cameras on them?

No, there's time when you just don't have time to stop without slamming your breaks on especially when you're going 3mph too fast

Aye, but I'm talking about folk going through when it's well into the red phase, not putting their foot down when it turns to orange.

The Highway Code quite clearly states that amber means hurry up before it turns red, but whizzing through at about 40mph on red is a tad on the dangerous side.

I haven't read the Highway Code for a long time, but that's not quite my memory of the meaning of an Amber Light.

Ask Mr Bus, I'm sure he'll confirm it.

My instructor got it wrong then. He said amber means stop. Red means fookin stop!

On the opposite side of the coin, Britain is one of the few countries to have a "ready, steady..." light.

I thought that amber meant stop unless your braking could put other road users in danger

The Iona.

They should nick the Godbothering lot of them every Sunday.

And double their fines to pay for double time for whoever is issuing the ticket on a Sunday.
