I'm sorry but he's not good enough.

He was so out of his depth yesterday it was embarrassing, it was also embarrassing watching him trying to compete with Wes Morgan who I've heard had a big shit than Mackay before the match.

I gotta agree with you PJ, both are not good enough.

If Foley is still here next year then I will be amazed (and very dissapointed)

please can someone explain to me how Foley appeared on the park again yesterday, and was STILL on the field in the second half. His attempt at squeezing between those two defenders in the second half was excruciatingly embarrassing. That was a bread and butter chance for any proper striker to show speed and STRENGTH in those situations to get a strike in on goal. He disappeared under two red shirts and they came away with the ball as if he didn't exist. Absolutely garbage and woefully weak. If a player of that size wants to make it in pro football he has to be built like Tony Cottee or Maradona, to give added STRENGTH to his game. He wouldn't look out of place in a junior school team.
Garbage decision from Wilson to pick him again. Surely we've seen the last of him in a Pools shirt??????? violin violin

Mackay made some decent runs, but his touch and awareness are very poor. He is also very light weight and in this league simply not upto the task. Foley...well i dont need to say anything, we all know how poor he is. I thought the team he picked yest was the cloest to the best team we have had all year, if he only but sweeney wide right and mccunnie at full back, just a shame non of them gave a toss about the game.

I agree about Foley and Mackay. Out of their depth I'm afraid.
I might have been tempted to give Antwi the last fifteen minutes up front. A bit of speed and muscle, and what had we to lose. The Forest defence had it far too easy for me. Maybe Antwi might have ruffled them a bit. We might as well all have a tinker.

Have to agree Mackay was pretty poor yesterday, Just seemed to run
In all fairness Brown was nackered too so any link up play between the 2 was cut down

Foley, Dont get me started on Foley, He needs to realise that you need to look at the ball to know where your going with it

Has met his level at Reserve Football

The annoying thing is that here we have at least three players playing yesterday who most of us agree are not good enough for league one, so effectively are passengers, and yet a team of the stature and clout as Forest struggle to beat us. Three or four of the right players adding to this squad and a cull of the deadwood is all we really need. Are the current management team up to the task of achieving that position?

that is the biggest question to be answered. It's a no-brainer that new players are needed - Keeper, right and left back, tough-tackling midfielder in the Tinkler mould, and another forward if the rumours about Porter leaving are to be believed.Whether the current manager is up to the task of bringing in the required players, and whether he will be trusted by the board to do so is going to determine everything next season.

Though I wouldn't write Mackay off quite just yet, I'll concede things don't look very optimistic for him.

But at least he's been given the opportunity. And Foley has been given much more opportunity than Mackay.

So now let's do the bloody same for Rae and Tymon. Let's get them tested.
Rae is only on the bench for Southport at the moment so let's get him back. They might be in the play-offs but that's not our lookout.

I said a couple of weeks ago that Mackay was not good enough. It's a pity as the lad has a great attitude. But he lacks the skill and the positional sense and you've got to wonder whether he's going to improve much further. He may stay next term as he is relatively cheap, but he'll be well down the order when Ritchie B comes back, and there'll be a signing as replacement (eventually) for Ian Moore and I guess also for Joel Porter who will not be staying.

a decent, pacy striker adept at sticking the ball in the onion bag is something we need to conjure up for next season. Boulding is an obvious choice, but unfortunately as for reasons already stated all over the internet about him he probably won't leave Mansfield, even though it looks like they are going down.
I reckon there has got to be a couple of decent forwards kicking about in League Two or the Conference who we should make an attempt at signing.
The lad Brighton signed from Rochdale (Murray) has stepped up to the mark no problem

the only snag now is, if Rochdale are promoted they will be in a better position to offer him good terms to stay. If they stay down, then I'm sure the prospect of playing at a higher level will be appealing.

Michael Mackay has the potential to be a good forward in my eyes. OK he was dreadful yesterday, but lets think about this.

We get him from northern league. let him train for a few months with the first team. then play him in a team that is playing dreadfully and expect him to be the save and grace.

I think both HUFC and MM would benefit if he went out on loan to a league 2 club for at least the first part of next season.

I concur.

And he wasn't helped by having to play in a team that only had 10 men due to Foley wasting one of the shirts.

Aye, that's what we need to do.

Promote from the Youth ranks, tell them they're shite all season and then insist that we promote from the Youth ranks.....then at the end of the season, insist that they're dispensed with and call for promotion from the youth team....when we sack the youth team, say that it's a shite decision and then, when we don't play the remainder, insist that we play them, then tell them they're shite.......

Foley is shite though and no matter how the Radio Free China filter tries to alter the fact, he isnt getting any better and was so far out of his depth on Saturday it was sad to watch

And unless Mackay has some serious coaching during the summer, he won't be able to cut it at this level.

Kevin, it's my opinion, I don't want to see any young player leave the club and perhaps leave football altogether, but Foley is never going to make it, its sad, sometimes players just aren't good enough and he is from a long line of 'fast but shite' players we always seem to have on our books

He has made nearly seventy appearances now, OK, loads from the subs bench, but this still doesn't disguise the fact he just isn't going to make it and you don't need to be a Cloughie or Shanks to see that

He takes too many touches, is nowhere near strong enough, runs into 'blind alleys' every time he has an opportunity

How many more years does a player like him need, he's 21 now, another two, three or perhaps four before the penny drops?

When Foley made that pathetic attempt at going past the last defender second half on Saturday Wilson and Butterworth went absolutely mental and subbed him shortly afterwards, I felt like going down and saying to Danny that this what the fans have been seeing for months, the kid is just not good enough and never will be yet he plays some part every week. His confidence is slowly being destroyed by playing at level that is beyond his ability.

He was so bad on Saturday I felt sorry for him.

Christ only you could mention Henry and Easter in the same sentence.......

And 70 matches without a goal, I would say most fans have been extremely patient Kev

PS

Easter is still shite, go on and check his exploits since leaving Pools
